I am not a doctor, so ask first a doctor.

My story:
I had acid reflux with backpain since 1 year. I did all kind of tests for my stomach and back and nothing was found. I took anti reflux pills for 6 months. I went to to massage and nothing my back kept on hurting. Suddenly one day I faint in the morning hours. I rushed to my doctor as soon as I felt a bit better. My blood pressure was very high and had tachicardia. And after some days I was feeling pain in my belly too.
I went to do a CTscan for my belly and the result was....diverticulitis! Which I never heard before. (check in internet there is a lot about it) My doctor told me to take Metamucil.

I am taking now Metamucil (OTC), Fiber supplements, Digestive Enzymes and Acidophilus all from the drugstore. The result after 1 week was: my reflux disappeared completely!
I did a colon cleanup and this got rid also of my acid reflux.
Incredible!

It seems some here think it does. Acid reflux is controlable though. If you are overweight, lose it. Don't eat yourself full when eating. Stay away from triggers such as processed meals like Hamburger Helper, Rice O Roni, Pop Tarts, and other things which have preservatives that could trigger it. If you smoke, quit, and try not to inhale any second hand smoke. Eat chocolate only in great moderation and if you drink tea or coffee, stop for a while. Also avoid greasy foods and spicey foods.

From what I can find, it feels good but doesn't really do what you think it's doing. The only way to get real relief is from a med specifically made for the problem. Sad. I was hoping that you could do White Russians or Grass Hoppers and make it all better.

I don't know if it exactly effects your back muscles, but I do notice that sometimes the first sign that it is happening is burning pain across my back. I assume the pain is referring from something internal.
