How many days before you cook it can you leave it in the fridge if its a fresh turkey? I bought mine last sunday and we are cooking it early friday morning, is that ok?

Well, if it's frozen a long time, but a fresh turkey after thawing, I would never let it sit in the fridge longer than 2-3 days. It's just for safety purposes. Even after being cooked and not frozen, I wouldn't leave it in the fridge too long or you'll really be sorry.

The rule of thumb is five days but many meat departments and markets say up to 14 days. Those turkeys that have long experations date have been treated to make them last longer, they are older birds, and they dry out the older they are. Stick to no more than five days and you will have a great turkey.
