married until at the last minute his daughter didn't know if she wanted me there. My question why do men let their daughters run their life and not follow their feelings.

Sounds to me like he is using his daughter as an 'excuse'. He most likely got 'cold feet' and does not want a long range commitment. How long was he divoirced before you started dating? If less than 1 year he needs time to get over his previous relationship/marriage. If he was single for 2+ years, he is still shopping around and used you for convenience.

Geoff, There is no soft way for me to say this. Currently, you're a weak person. Most probably, you have been weak from a long time. Even more probably, you hate being weak and are too mentally blocked to be the kind who hurts someone in even the tiniest way. You are probably depressed because you hate being weak. But, you like being gentle. The question is not how to get over this dichotomy. The question is why you should. The answer is what you're seeing happen to your life right now. Get up, face yourself, love yourself, accept that life will have serious challenges and troubles, and there is no way out other than discipline, ultra hard work, and breaking the mental jaws of your foes. You only get as good as you desire. Your wife does not love or respect you. She uses an excuse to justify her infidelity. And you find it more convenient to latch on to this flimsy lie than to slug it out day in and day out for the next 5 years to become a strong, successful and disciplined person who will truly attract a good lady. You lack a good heart. Stop lying to yourself by calling yourself a gentle and romantic person. God bless you. I really hope you get what I'm saying in the right sense, and act on it and find real happiness in every aspect of your life. Mr.X

My marriage of 20 years broke up partially due to the relationship between my ex and my daughter. They didn't need me anymore. I wish I could figure out a way to loosen the bonds between men and their daughters, but that will never happen. They are inseparable.

well the father wants the daughter to be comfortable with the new woman. Because he wants his daughter to be able to connect with the new woman, like be able to talk about stuff going on and everything. If the daughter doesn't like the new woman then the father says bye. That's how my dad is.

cause they figure they know best but what he doesn't know is that most daughter is jealous and they think they are going to lose daddy and he not going anywhere and she doesn't know how to share her father feeling with you until she see that he is unhappy then she is willing to let him have a friend good luck
