If you are going to be meeting at the movie theater and then leaving immediately afterwards with no extra kids, then I'd say that it would probably be okay to proceed with the party if your son will be terribly upset by the cancellation. Your daughter should probably stay at home, though. However, if your son is okay with postponing the party, I would do that. You are going to be exhausted after shampooing everyone's hair and washing all the linens, etc. There is some spray that you can buy that you should spray on the mattresses and furniture to kill any lice. If there are stuffed animals, bean bag chairs, etc., you can put those in a garbage bag with the air removed an sealed tightly and leave for 2 weeks which should kill any lice. If one of your kids had been invited to a party and the host had head lice the day before, wouldn't you want for the parents to reschedule the party? Do unto others as you would have then do unto you. If you choose to cancel, just tell the parents that you are going to have to reschedule because something came up.

What rediculous things some people do. There is ONLY 1 WAY. Don't waste your money on doctors and prescriptions etc; Lice are immune to even the prescriptions! RID makes a product called "Pure Alternative". It is chemical free. It is very thick and gooey like syrup kinda. It doesn't kill the lice, but then nothing else does either(short of gasoline or kerosene, that was mentioned earlier) Save that to heat with and fuel your car with.It can make you very sick if not kill you(her) Save the mayo for BLT's. Put the Pure Alternative in her hair and follow directions. It makes the lice immobile and easier to remove because they can't scurry around in that gooey stuff. It softens the glue that the nits are attached with and they slide right off very easily. You may need to do this a couple days in a row because if your like me and most people, you'll never get every nit the first time. Meanwhile, don't take away your childs favorite stuffed animals and lock them away in a plastic bag for a whole month. Simply put them in the dryer for 30 minutes or so. Put the pillows in dryer also for 30 minutes(unless you want to wash AND dry them)if they're actually dirty} Put all her coats she wears in dryer also as well as her backpack.Wash and dry the clothes that she wears on a regular basis(obviously) No need to take out every single article of clothing that she hasn't worn in a while and run up your laundry bill. If there are lice on stored clothing, they will find their way to her head or die trying. They can't survive for more than a day or 2 without hair and blood. As others have said, you need to obviously wash and dry all the sheets and blankets etc.Tip: you don't actually even have to wash them unless they're actually dirty! Believe me the heat from the dryer will kill lice AND nits! Now, don't waste your money on chemical (LICE SPRAYS) or any other kinds of poison that your child will be SLEEPING on.Simply get your vacuum cleaners hose attachment and vacuum the mattresses very slowly and thourghly.(Both sides) Do the carpets also. You don't have to COOK her combs and brushes either, just soak them in very hot tap water for 30 minutes. All this may seem like a lot of work but after you read it a couple times you will find it isn't that much. Do everything I told you at least 2 or 3 days in a row and your house and child will be lice free! P.S. Remember to take the vacuum bag out after each time and burn it or dispose in whatever you dispose in. I lived with this impossible nightmare for several decades with the same frustration you are feeling right now, until I stumbled upon the ONLY way, as I said. Good luck! :)

This is a little messy, but it really works.......mix mineral oil and vinager 50/50 and apply to her hair. Cover with a shower cap. Keep this on for about 30 minutes. Then wash the hair as many times as you can stand it. With the oil, it's going to be hard to wash out. Get the hair almost dry then grab the nit comb and start combing them out. The vinager smothers the lice and so does the oil, the oil also swells the nits up so they can be combed off the hair strand easier. This is the best non-chemical way that I have found. My daughter had them before and she has long, very thick hair. I hope that this helps.

It stinks but if you mix together some mayonaise & an egg & smother it in her hair, cover with a grocery bag or shower cap, sleep with it in her hair, & wash it out in the morning, you should see improvement... And you won't keep frying her scalp with chemicals.
Ok, I see that a few people are saying to keep the hair clean, but that is completely opposite of what you should do. They latch on to clean hair... that's why African Americans don't EVER get lice. Other than washing chemicals out if you go that route again, don't wash her hair daily... but definately stay on top of her sheets, toys, & other stuff.

I saw something on the "Today Show" recently about lice, but I was just watching/listening while getting ready for work. I suggest going to the NBC web site, searching on The Today Show and then "lice". Good luck.

Hopefully you stripped the beds, and confiscated the stuffed animals for the time being. I had lice when I was 4, we boiled combs, and then (its sounds gross but it works) lathered the hair with mayonaise, all around. You then put a shower cap over it and leave it on for 10 minutes, then rinse with hot water.

You have to got to a dermatologist or doctor, they will give you a special shampoo. Use it and comb out the lice. You can't get rid of them yourself, it's just gonna get worse. Your daughter may have to cut her hair.

well, lice gotta eat too. Wot chu got aganz lize girl? But if you want a straight answer try this. Any insect repellant (like OFF or 6-12) will kill them on contact, wash it out after 15 minutes, wait two days and repeat. It works, end of story!

Get special lice shampoos and freeze her pillow case everyday, until they are gone.
Do not shave her hair because they will just dig in to her skin
