okay, well this is gonna be a long answer.. haha sorry but i hope it helps:

my suggestion is to use more gentler products. I used to use harsh products for acne that are all medicated but too much of these medicines are way too harsh for ur skin. One or two is fine though. I’ve used stuff from proactive, acnefree, medicated cleansers, expensive department store stuff like sheseido, differin, duac, etc. none of them worked very well for me. Most of them made my skin worse.

i have oily, acne-prone skin too. and i used to have a scatter of pimples all along my forehead too. but now it stopped and currently i only have two tiny whiteheads on my chin (barely noticeable).

But I have some acne scars on my cheeks and, thank goodness, they are actually fading away in a reasonable pace. i also, have some rough patches on my skin leftover from acne scars but they are becoming as soft as the rest of my skin with help from my skin products.

i tried the neutrogena acne mark fading peel. that didn't do anything for me at all... except maybe exfoliate my skin (and kinda irritated it too cuz my skin turns all red when i wash it away).

bottom line: its expensive and does not work.

i read some people's reviews on it online and it didn't work on them either.

so i stopped using that and started using some new products... and my acne scars are amazingly slowly fading away! i dont noe which product is doing this- it could be all of them!

for the dark marks (acne marks), use AMBI skin lightening cream sold at drugstores, target, walmart, etc. for around $4.99. IMPORTANT: only put the cream DIRECTLY on the scar and the scar only! if u just spread it all over a certain part of ur face, it will turn into a blotchy mess and will take a while for it to return to ur normal skin color!

Here are the products I am currently using that has been treating my skin like a miracle:

cleanse with morning burst cleanser by clean and clear in the morning and oxygenating fizzing cleanser at night (also by clean and clear). use cooling daily pore toner by clean and clear and do not use an astringent which will strip away natural oils and cause ur face to produce more oil than needed.

use an oil-free moisturizer with spf 15 and above for day. use dual action moisturizer by clean and clear for night.

use persa-gel 10 for breakouts and pimples.

and use a clay mask containing sulfur once or twice a week (more on days of breakouts). try queen helene mint julep masque. or proactive refining mask. U can also spottreat and dab on a spot of it directly on ur pimples without rubbing it in. just dab lightly! and leave it on overnight. it should become smaller, less red, less noticeable, or disapear completely the next morning.

exfoliate with the Neutrogena invigorating foaming scrub only once a week.

If u use makeup, use only oil-free and water-based foundation (but I suggest u not use foundation at all because oil-free or not, it will clog ur pores), and oil-free powder and concealer. Try getting one that contains acne-fighting ingredients (look at some Neutrogena products).

DO NOT use toothpaste or deodorant or any of those weird "remedies"!! they are only myths and will only ruin ur skin condition even more! stick with things that are MEANT for ur face.

Also, after I washed my pillow and blankets (that I hadn’t washed for a few weeks), my skin stopped breaking out so much everytime I wake up in the morning. I realized that wherever I put my face on the pillow, I wake up the next morning with a huge red pimple right on that spot where my face was on the pillow! So wash it every week or as much as possible. And also wash ur towel. Don’t use a washcloth because it collects bacterias everytime u wipe ur face with it and it gets all over ur skin… unless u wash it after every single time u use it. Instead use tissue paper, toilet paper, or paper towels to blot ur face dry.

i hope that helps! :]

Dry and/or greasy skin due to poor oil composition of the skin. Thick greasy oils clog pores, lack of oil leads to dryness and irritation. You need thin oils to moisturize while dissolving and clearing gunk in your poors. Try fish oil or seafood. 2 tsp fish oil a day or 4 servings of seafood a week. Stick it out for at least 2 months; it will take a long time to replace all your oil. Any effect after 1-2 days is temporary or random; so even if it makes you break out a little at first, you haven't given it a full try yet.

In the short term you can wash and moisturize well, but that will only go so far. Plus excessive washing can be drying and excessive moisturizing can be clogging. Use a small amount of a light moisturizer, made with oil not jelly or grease. Often that means soybean oil or mineral oil. Mineral oil means mined from the ground. So soybean oil is usually better, though mineral oil won't cause too much harm. Clean with soap and water, not a harsh acne cleanser. Even then they only work so well. So you really need the seafood.

Antibiotics aren't really good for bacteria long term, they'll come back in force after. Short term they may help. After you get off them find some kefir with acidophilus listed first or 2nd to replace the friendly bacteria they destroyed. Studies show less illness when you have these bacteria, even outside the stomach in places such as the lungs and elsewhere. You want friendly bacteria to fill the void when the antibiotics stop, not harmful ones.

In the short term you might also try 100,000+ iu retinol vitamin A (a megadose, and too much for normal use) or one of the acne drugs that is similar to retinol vitamin A. It's some minor harm to your organs, but it helps against bacteria on your skin. At least it doesn't have the other long term drawbacks to your skin that antibiotics and many scrubs do.

If you would like to learn how to treat your acne permanently and regain your health and wellbeing, without drugs, without typical acne treatments, and without any side effects, then this will be the most important letter you will ever read.

I know, being a teen is rough sometimes! But you shouldn't give up! What I'm going to do it give you a bunch of recommendations. Now, these products and tips I'm going to give you are not pricey nor hard to keep up with so no worries. 1. Drink lots of water, and I mean lots! Water keeps skin hydrated and keep your skin clear. + also try drinking green tea ! 2. Exercise! Just trust me ;) 3. Don't eat or drink greasy/sugary things. At least keep it on the down low because those foods make your skin oily and break out easily and fast. Avoid pop, candy, fried foods and fast food. 5. Wash your face no more than 2 times a day. In the morning and before you go to bed. 6. Try wearing makeup no longer than 8 hours a day. 7. DON'T touch your face or pick on it. On your fingers and in your nails there are lots of germs and bacteria that may affect your face when touched. 8. When treating acne try more natural remedies at home. Don't go for the chemically filled products - they don't work well and dry out your skin. 9. Stress level must go down. Many people breakout because of stress. 10. Accept it and accept yourself! If you have a bit of acne, it wont be there forever and lots of people your age have it! You're not the only one ! Here are products that I use: I had some body breakouts and I used : BODY CLEAR® Body Wash Pink Grapefruit by Neutrogena and Neutrogena Body Clear Body Spray which worked really well. For my face I use : Clean and Clear advantage blackhead clearing astringent and tea tree skin clearing foaming cleanser which is from the Body Shop in Canada, so if you live in Canada your in luck if you want to get it. Otherwise, try getting something natural and/or oil-free. Exfoliating (you should do like 3 times a week) : Clean & Clear Deep Action Exfoliating Scrub Mask (twice a week) : Honey and Oat 3-in-1 scrub mask from The Body Shop . Find a mask that will work for you ! All masks work pretty well. I like the one I used because it cleanses, polishes and moisturizes. For healing acne scars : I use vitamin E oil for it fades scars and promotes faster healing. *Hope this works for you! If it doesn't work the way you wished, consider visiting a dermatologist ! GOOD LUCK!

Proactive! Tons of my friends have it and they swear by it! I may look cheesy when you see it on a comercial but i have seen the great results! Also, try washing your face every day and night. If you dont want to buy any fancy acne scrub, just use soap and water! Also, no touching your face often! The oils from your fingers can really affect your skin. Try not to consume sugars. I know how hard this is because after Halloween, i broke out alot because of all the candy and chocolate i ate. Do your best to eat fuits and veggies if you can. However, i think the very first thing you have to do is go to a dermatologist! The doctor can perscribe exactly what you need, because, well, he/she is the expert! You may also just need to wait to grow out of your pimples. I hope i helped! Good luck!

Well, I personally use proactive, and I too do not have severe acne. It is a little expensive, but it works wonderfully, and it has a line of many anti-acne products. Makeup, sun screen, stuff that makes you tan, oil blotching stuff, and so much more. If you react to make ups, this helps, and it has stuff to help get rid of scars. It is all really worth the money. Trust me!

I've tried all sorts of remedies, all sort of products, Proactiv, facial, whatever... I think it all depends on your skin conditions as well and what causes Acne. A few suggestions for you, that has proven to be very good on my own case:

- Use products that are for sensitive skin. Don't choose those that are for oily skin because it tends to be more drying, and aggreviate you acne problem more. The more you skin is conditioned and feels good, less likely you will get more acne.
- If you want to use benzoyl peroxide, use 2.5% instead of 5% or 10% because it tends to dry your skin more, and your skin will become more oily, and more acne. Try Neutrogena On-The-Spot since it's only 2.5%, and can be easily absorbed by the skin without excessive drying
- Cetaphil is voted as one of the best cleanser and/or make-up remover for acne prone skin, without drying, and yet cleanse well. Buy the soap type instead of liquid type.

2 recommended remedies for you, you can try out first one, and if it doesn't help, try 2nd one.

Remedy 1:
- Cleanse your face with Cetaphil. Double cleanse if you have make-up on. It can be used as a make-up removal.
- Use a non-alcohol toner for sensitive skin.
- Moisturise with water-based moisturiser, such as Neutrogena's or ZA tinted moisturiser, both which I've used and it's perfect even for oily skin and acne prone skin. (when choosing other moisturiser, make sure it contains no mineral oil and it's non-comedogenic)
- Apply Neutrogena On-The-Spot over face. Twice a day after the above steps.

This should improve your skin. Remember to scrub your face at least once a day to remove dead skins, since dead skins can clot pores and results in more acnes or pimples. I personally like to use salt add with cleansing lotions to act as a scrub for face. It has antiseptic effects on acnes and pimples.

Remedy 2:
After cleansing, instead of using On-The-Spot, use

- If you have serious acne and white head problems, use Retin A (Vitamin A). Starts with the lowest dosage such as 0.025% or 0.1%. It's available at any pharmacy.
- Moisturise....

Retin A is very good for acne treatment but use very very very smlal amount only, apply on affected areas. In the first 1 or 2 weeks, your face will become rougher as comedones (or white heads) are all surfacing, but later it'll just be washed way, and your skin will be smoother than before. Treats severe and mild acnes very well. It has many other benefits, like for wrinkles, improve collagen, treats freckles, and so on. You can read more on internet.

Proactive! Its a miracle cure. I've been using it for about a year now and I love it. It cost about $45 for a 3 month supply. You use it once in the morning and once at night. They also have other supplies that help like a sulfer scrub and make up that helps fight acne.

There are great acne lines out there now. Serious Skin Care is one and it's sold on HSN. I would think they are the least expensive of the few I know of. But their stuff does work. Then there is Proactiv. Sold on Qvc.
