The 10 Commandments are basic rules of intelligent species survival. Those that do not at least try to live by those rules, whether religious or not, will eventually self destruct and become extinct.

There is nothing wrong with them...people do not know them is the wrong thing. The 4th commandment is the one that makes people say....oh, that is for the Jews only. It is the one that will be disputed until the end of time. It is the only one that is a sign between God and His people.

See I dont have a problem with any of the commandments I think they are a fine list of donts. Anyone who follows them will live a better life than if not. However where they came from and how we got them is another thing. I dont want them in schools, courthouses, public squares at all because soon other religions will want theirs there too and then its chaos.

I'm not defending the Ten Commandments they are not of my faith, but they are good and exist in most all faiths of conscience.
I do not understand why people have a problem living by them, they are simple to follow if love is in your heart.

I dont believe there is anything wrong with the ten commandments themselves. they do have a good message, except possibly the "put god above everything else in your life" one. Taking things like that literally is what makes crazy-catholics as i like to call them. You probably know a few, we all do.

Well, the one about the Sabbath day, I think is harmful.
As I understand it. Everyone is supposed to take Saturday off, or you're going to hell. What about Doctors, law enforcement, and other essential people that we need to work full time in order for us to survive?
Now, if I'm totally wrong on this, please correct me. best wishes.

No. They are perfect the way they were written. They basically set out the rules to live your life by, giving guidelines for treating other people. I feel all of our laws are based on these commandments.
Our God of love set out these laws, and they are perfect.

nope...and your conscience verifies them if you are willing to be brutally honest with yourself.
then the arogant people will tell you..."i dont need some commandment to tell me not to murder . we know its wrong ourselves.
but what they don't realize is they have just proved my point...that they align with your conscience.
and has anyone seen the world recently??? apparently we do indeed need an authority telling us not to murder, steal , etc...
