It is sad that there are parts of the world that are like that. But I really think they should do more for themselves. It may sound selfish, but shouldn't we worry about our kids and their future? The U.S. has enough problems as it is, if people want to be humanitarians, don't be one from your living room. Pack your bags and go to those in need. After you realize how much disease and death there is, you'll come running home. Everyone wants to help a cause, help the causes here. We have homeless people here, most who have helped keep our country free, that are sick and dying. Most folks walk by them on the street or tell them to get a job. Why don't we just use that attitude toward those other countries. Sam Kinison, a comedian, once said "Don't send food the those people, send them luggage. Tell them to move to where the food is." I'm not trying to be offensive, just realistic. I'm more interested in trying to keep my head above water so my kids can have a future.

There are many legitimate organizations that are about the business of helping people in this country and in other parts of the world.

I believe it's our obligation as members of the human race to do what we can to help.

We have incorporated this in our everyday lives and as much as it helps others....it also helps us.

I send my check to Kenya Africa each month. It goes to the abandoned baby shelter. Helps with food, shelter and medical for orphaned or abandoned babies due to the AIDS epidemic. God willing, maybe one day I will be able to do more.

White American Christian church groups send more food, medicine, clothes, money, tools, you name it, to impoverished peoples than most of the governments of nations combined. Muslims shoot us for it.

I agree, we should help ourselves, we've given enough aid to everybody, i don't think they appreciate it much anyway.
