Beneficial for what? It depends on your purpose for learning a second language.

Those in the US would probably find it more beneficial to learn French as it would open up prospects with Canada. If you have some dream of visiting a French-speaking area (France, in Belgium, Switzerland or Canada, or various African countries, etc.), then French would be the way to go.

However, if you are someone interested in international business, German would be the language to learn.

Having already learned some French, I've found now that when i read German it is easier. I am now learning German so that comes in handy.

Learn either one and then learn the other. The third language will come to you very easy.

Whichever you do first I suggest using the Pimsleur language program. It is easy to use and not that expensive on EBay.

I would say French, not because I'm French but because you can speak French in a lot more place than German ( Germany, Austria and Switzerland ). Whereas French can be spoken in France of course and a lot of African countries. So if you intend to travel, you are more likelu to find French speaking person than German speaking Person.

With some awareness of the three languages you point out, i think maximum English audio equipment might discover Dutch the least confusing, even with the undeniable fact that it is likewise the least functional international. The Netherlands has a colony contained in the Caribbean and Dutch Guyana on the NE coast of South united states of america of america, and there might desire to nevertheless be some Dutch audio equipment in fomer colonies consisting of Indonesia, yet that's approximately it. greater human beings worldwide huge communicate French than German, yet contained in the sciences German is greater significant. There are truthfully greater books and studying tapes for German and French than for Dutch.

international business? then definitely french. almost every pharmaceutical company is based out of france. also, keep in mind, if you want to be fluent you have to spend some time in a french/german speaking area (canada being closer to the U.S. than germany...). don't get me wrong, i think both are great and important languages, but i would go with the french. i hope to learn more german someday myself though.
