If he has congestion in his lungs, it's a very good possibility he has a upper respitory infection, and if you don't go to the vet it'll get worse and he will die. He's still recovering from being spayed so his immune system is low to begin with. If he does have that infection , and it sounds like it is, it'll take him down pretty fast. I've had more than one kitty with it and they started out healthy. It didn't take to long before they became very ill. Please take him as soon as possible. If money is the problem, I'm sure they will work out a payment plan for you. Don't let kitty get any worse. They suffer horrible!

Lung congestion could be an indication of pneumonia and the kitten needs to see a vet to get antibiotic. That has nothing to do with her spay surgery. It is very important that she be treated immediately!!!!!!!!!!
Many kittens nowadays are spayed or neutered at eight weeks and have been for the last five years at least.

8 weeks is much too young to be spayed. This kitten needs to go to the vet. It will cost as much as a nice dinner out to see the vet, think of how you will feel if the kitten dies!

I know they spay at a younger age now, than years ago, but haven't yet seen one 8 weeks old spayed. How do you know it is lung congestion? Questions and answers can be edited. Others may be able to answer better with more info and those who have answered can edit answers to give more info.

Anesthesia, if administered improperly, CAN give cats pneumonia.
I had this happen to one of my cats and she was an ADULT. I didn't know at the time what was going on and took her back to the same place where the surgery was done. They lied to me about what was wrong with her and talked me into having her put down. At the time my finances were REALLY tight & I was ignorant of what was offered in the area where I lived because I had just moved there.
After the fact, I found out I had this poor cat put down simply for having pneumonia!!!!! Boy was THAT a hard lesson to swallow!!!!!!!!
PLEASE take your KITTEN to a vet IMMEDIATELY!!!
BTW: I wouldn't go back to the one who did the surgery in the first place. Find a BETTER vet. It may co$t a bit more, but what price do you want to put on the LIFE of your kitten???...one of God's creatures...that YOU took RESPONSIBILITY for.

You need to get her to a vet. Then, the doctor can listen to her lungs and determine the best course of treatment for her. If left untreated it may get worse which would require more expenses.

yes, do take the kitten to the vet. They can often help with payment schedules, etc. They want to help you and the little kitty.

First of all, I thought they shouldn't be spayed until they're 6 months old? I'd go back to where you had it done.

At least call the clinic where you had the surgery done. Eight weeks seems really young to me.
