Wondering if it is deep down in there.

It is probably under the gums. Teeth do have roots unless you're a child and this is a baby tooth. See a dentist because you could have one nasty infection in there!

All molars have roots. I'm hoping that it was a baby tooth that was ready to come out and not an adult one that broke off. If it WAS a baby tooth, don't worry about it. When the permanent tooth is ready to come in, it dissolves the roots of the baby tooth as it grows into that spot. When the adult tooth has dissolved all or most of the roots of the baby tooth, the baby tooth falls out and the permanent one starts to take its place.

IT IS PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR SOMEONE TO PULL THEIR OWN ADULT MOLAR. IF THIS IS A BABY TOOTH ITS ROOTS ALREADY REABSORBED A WHILE BACK SO THERE WERE NO ROOTS FOR BABY TEETH THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO COME OUT. WHEN I WAS 9 OR 10 I PULLED MY OWN TOOTH WHICH WAS LOOSE AND WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED THAT IT HAD NO ROOTS.
