You can train as much or as little as you want. Go to some different schools and take some free classes and find a martial art that ou are interested in and that you would like to practice. Find a knowlegeable instructor, a place that does sparring as well as kata, and where you aren't asked to sign a contract and pay lots of up-front money.

Most instructors will accept your schedule & work with it.
There are a lot of styles to choose from. Basically, they fall into 1 of 2 broad catagories:
Striking (Tae Kwon Do, Karate Shaolin Temple Boxing) & grappling(Hapkido, Judo, Aikido) bothe have their strengths & weaknesses. Find both a style & an instructor you like & get going.

Try judo-if you want to defend yourself the fundamental breakfalls and grappling skills it teaches are essential. I'm not knocking any other style, just that your athleticism would be an asset on the judo mat, and it's good to start with learning how to fall down. In any case if you are pressed for time, judo will enable you to get right in there and actively learn from day one.

Just check out different martial arts schools. When you find the martial art that's right for you and the school/instructor that you like (in the martial art that you picked), go with it.

Well, it depends what you want to do more of, defending yourself and getting the person out of your face (in a sense), or the more offencive side of martial arts.
for the first, parctice karate.
for your scheduel, take a moment to look at it, and see where you can fit something in.
