im not sure what the actual definition of nervous breakdown is but i think its when your just sooooo worked up over one thing and it just drives you insane all at once and you just pretty much crumple to the floor cause you cant stand it anymore all you have to do to get over one is go somewhere no one else is relax and think about that thing calmly

They are extremely similar things but not exactly the same, having a nervous breakdown means that you simply can not function mentally at all, even doing the simplest things such as showering and caring for yourself become a BIG task. Where depression doesn't affect you so serverely, and most people can manage to take care of themselves even though they feel lousy and horribly sad.

No. It is any state of mind which persuades a person to go to mental hospital.
Depression is probably a very common reason for this. Other problems would be confusion, delusions, hallucinations, which occur as well as or instead of depression.
A doctor should be consulted early to try to avoid going to hospital.

I had paralyzing panic attacks and anxiety.
depression often goes with and increases anxiety.
I was started on Zoloft. It has helped me immensely.
eat healthy and exercise. avoid alcohol.
