I was dating this guy for 6 months. In the beginning he made it clear he didnt want a relationship because he was just getting on his feet financially, emotionally and physically. He was near 40 and didnt have a career. Fast forward. Things are going well and I want more. We were really comfortable with each other, and had great times together. But underneath I was torn because he didnt want a relationship. This lead to me being moody and distant at times. One night, I was in one of my moods and the next day he said he was tired and needed a break. I was upset. So I didnt call or text him. Now, he's calling me saying I thought you said you wanted to be friends, and it's a shame that you dont want to talk to me. But I told him I need time to be completely over him and then we can maybe try to be friends. So does that break means its over?

From the very beginning he made it clear he only wanted companionship or friendship and not a serious relationship. It looks like he still wants that friendship with you but you will not settle for anything less than a relationship. Sometimes a friend or companion to do things with will turn into a serious relationship if chemistry develops between you and it looks like is the case here. Let him take it slowly if he wants to, he may still feel like he does not have much to offer financially, emotionally and physically. The emotion and physical part may have gotten better but the financial part may not be what he thinks is should be and he may be feeling inadequate about that. If you can be his friend then do so if not then you do not really love him at all and the break will mean it is truly over.↑
