I am not an American, so can't say what Americans feel about this, but as an educated person I can say that America is one of the most developed countries in the world, and one big reason for that is they have been able to keep a check on the "Population".
Just have a look at the Western European countries and they and their govt. all know how to keep a check on their population. Have a look at Germany and at one time they had 0% birth rate and Germany is one of the most developed and best countries to live in this world, I believe.
I am from India and one of the main deterrents to its development and growth is the massive and growing population.
We are human beings so let us think well before we start having large families, though I accept the fact that having large joint families (like we had earlier in India) also has its advantages.
There are huge countries like Russia , Canada & Australia which on the other hand have had a low population compared to the size of the country. That also has some disadvantages .
But generally I believe in the saying "Too many cooks spoil the broth...and Too many people spoil the country".
So last but not least America is very right and justified in having the 'control issue'. Moreover so many people immigrate to the U.S. from different countries and it has always been like a melting pot, and therefore they are very justified I think.

Americans use to have large families because they needed the children's help with the farm. As time has gone by and technology has taken over it is not necessary to have children help out with work, so most families have fewer children. Americans do not think they must hover over their children, but small children do need watched closely, you know, so they do not drowned, fall down stairs, wander into the street, choke on small objects, aggravate animals that may bite, eat poisonous substances, be picked up by a pedophile and the list goes on and on. Remember children think differently than adults, they are not just small adults, they are children.
There is nothing wrong with having many children as long as you can afford all their care ( food, clothing, day care, hospital visits, doctor visits, vaccinations, dentist, education just to name a few) and rely on no government assistance.

Let me tell you what happened to me. True story. We went into our local mcdonalds to let my two year old run around and play in the play land. There were quite a few kids there. My son played for a little bit then I hear him scream. Enough Leave me alone. My husband went over to the area where my son was. He noticed a 6 year old girl kicking my two year old in the head. He told the girl to stop kicking my son in the head. He didn't go into the play area. He stood outside of the play area. But was where you could see what was happening.
This woman who hadn't bother to watch over her brew there were like 7 kids. Had been sitting there talking at the top of her lungs almost yelling. That was the way she conversed. Suddenly realize that my husband was tell her kid not to kick my son in the head. She didn't get upset because her beastly six year old was kicking a 2 year old in the head. She was upset because someone told her kid not to do it. Believe me there was plenty of wittness there. Thats exactly how it happen. She was so upset She not only Starting yelling even louder the her and swearing. Mind you it's play land and she was SWEARING holding nothing back. She called the cops. The cops came down. Has to ask question. So control issues no we don't have control issues. We want to make sure that are kids are protected and kept out of harms way. We want to make sure that are kids aren't kicked in the head because the parents are so overwhelmed with thier brew the learn to ignore them do what ever they want even if it means inflicting harm on other children.

Don't have so many you can't support them without tax paid assistance. Our country, the USA, is running out of clean water, we can't build water sanitation plants fast enough to keep up with the population, we can't build schools fast enough, we have traffic congestion in all large cities, we are depleting our forests faster than we are growing them, farmlands are giving way to development. These are not only Amercans' problem, but the problem of all people living in the USA, even illegal immigrants. Go to these links and see what will become of the USA if we don't, drastically, reduce all immigration into the USA. We don't want to STOP immigration, only reduce it, so it will level out instead of going 'off the charts'. The USA can't take in innumerable amounts of people. We cannot be the welfare office of the world nor the homeless shelter for the world poor. The best way to help those people is to help them IN THEIR countries. See the video, you'll understand it better.

American values are sound and time tested, so don't knock our country, or our family values. I guess large families are necessary when there is a good probability that one of your brood will be accidentally shot in a drive by, hit by a car, or OD on drugs, or sniff paint fumes, or get knocked up, because you are not "parenting" effectively.
So call it a control issue if you like, but what you see as a control issue is called "parenting." It is a necessary process in keeping children safe and teaching them to take care of themselves, so they LIVE to have families of their own. Americans love their children too. In America, PARENTS give their children security, as parents should.....not the other way around. Keep YOUR family values to yourself, Pendejo!

i don't think its right to bring a bunch of children in the world you cant even afford to take care of ,and do you mean they give you security by getting you welfare? and how can a child give you security shouldn't that be the other way around? and its good we watch them like a hawk as opposed to letting them run wild in the local walmart that's why i stay out of there its not a play ground you know .

Hispanic and other Catholic people tend to have large families, Irish, Italian...it's probably because the Pope still says contraception is wrong.

i don't think there is any smart person that thinks it is wrong to have a large family. but anyways if anyone wants to have a small family that's their choice, if anyone wants to have a large family it is their choice. but no one should complain about a woman having much kids if they aren't willing to have a lot. and i am sorry to say but watching your kid like a hawk has nothing to do with the amount of kids you have.

I agree with you on your observation that Americans tend to be much more "protective" of their children. And yet we Hispanics still are very successful in teaching our children right and wrong, what is safe and not.
Americans tend not to trust in G-d's providence, that he will provide for even the least of his sparrows and lillys of the valley, not to mention the children.
I think too, the Anglo-Saxons and Blacks feel threatened by our immigration and large families. They are afraid we will take jobs, valuable resources, land, and more.
By the way, I thought your Chupacabra question was a gas! It was muy gracioso, very funny. A pity your removed it, bro.
