I am giving away personalized shot glasses, during the ceremony they will hold the candy on all of the tables. Then as guests leave they can take the empty glasses with them. I am also giving away heart shaped cookie cutters with a personalized saying. My only suggestion is to have a choice of favors because there is always someone who doesn't like the favor given. No sense is wasting money buy half of one and half of another and let them choose. A favor table is a cute idea where guests can pick their own item. Some other examples are the two peas in a pod salt and pepper shakers. Kinda corny, but still cute.
Are you having silk or real flowers? Allow the guests to take home the centerpieces to use at their home.

I am thinking about getting decks of cards (we all get together and play cards a lot, so I think it would actually be used) personalized with our names and the wedding date on the back. I really like Blondie98's suggestion about having a selection of two or three different favors. I know I hate it when there is a little knick-knacky thing with their name and the date and some sort of 'theme' engraved on it, because I know it's something I'll never use, and I hate to throw things away.
Who wants to keep a silver candle holder that says 'Billy and Bonnie, February 14, 2007, My Heart Will Go On' when your names are Becky and Johnny and you hadn't even met Bonnie before the wedding?
Sorry, I know there are people who love the idea of sending their guests home with those sorts of things, but honestly. How many of those sorts of favors do you still have from the weddings you've been to?
I want to go with something that's either meant to be eaten and the wrapper thrown away, or something like a deck of cards (or that bottle opener idea) that people can actually use and just toss in a drawer when they're done.

Choose a meaningful charity to donate to... it's good for everyone... (photos are nice souvenirs from weddings...encourage cameras)
Have the charity provide place cards with a line to the effect of... " in your honour a donation has been made to _____" or "in lieu of favours, a donation has been made in your honour to help fight_____"
If there are guests who want to leave with a memento let them take home flowers from your centrepieces (make an announcement during the speeches...be specific about JUST the flowers if the vases are rented!) or if you bought the centrepieces and want to get rid of them make them a prize to some lucky couple at the tables who's anniversary is close to your wedding day.
If you're not into the charity idea... help the environment...
Give out seed packets..."your love is always growing or blossoming"
Give out baby trees...."your love is as strong as...."
Happy Wedding Day!

I just got married 4 1/2 months ago. I made CD's for everyone w/ our wedding song on it and some other love songs that we like. I made labels for them w/ our wedding colors and put our name and wedding date on the CD label, and a song list for the inside of the case. Everyone really seemed to like them. It's pretty inexpensive, especially if you have alot to make.

This is a very personal thing. It should depend on the theme of your wedding. Have you done any research? Is there something you enjoy doing as a couple that you can sybolize in a favor for your guests?

a heart shaped can opener!! (my cuz gave those at his wedding and it took us the WHOLE day to figure out wht it was. we though it was a "key to your heart" like he was trying to say here's the key to your lover's heart or something and then we finally asked him and he gave us a wierd look and said "a can opener"....my brothers/cuzins/I/EVERYONE cracked up cuz we thought it was the key to a heart!! LoL! it was cute tho)
or maybe one of those small decorations like a small jewelry box that has ur and ur partner's name and the date of the wedding
or a wedding frame with ur and ur husband/wife's pics and an engraving on it of some kind
wood or paper fans imprinted with your wedding information make a fun and functional souvenir for your guests.
hope this helps! good luck!

Taking the cake domicile or eating it there's a time-honored decision. the story is going that in case you place it below your pillow, you will dream of your destiny better half.

Today the new thing is to make a donation to your and your fiance's favorite charity. Candles are getting old, other stuff seems to gather dust but a donation can always be used.
