In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.
Love and blessings

Yes!! There is a devils bible!! It's actually called Satan's Bible!! In the beginning of the book there are prayers but not like any prayers you have ever heard!! The prayers are prayers to Satan and spells to protect yourself from people who believe in god !! There's alot of chants giving yourself to Satan!! near the back, the holy bible is written backwards to insult God!! There are warnings in the front of the book saying that this is not a book to be played around with!! If you don't do the spells or curses right you could be at the mercy of the devil !! Not something you want to play around with !!This bible in some ways is like the holy bible with sayings like "Blessed Be The Lord" Than you add Satan's name!! It was truely evil !!

I wondered about why the demons in the Devil's Advocate had faces on their bodies. I've seen it in a woodcut about the witch trials (I think it was the ones in England...can't remember) and it seems like I saw a painting of the Devil with a face on his abdomen by Hieronymus Bosch or maybe Breughel? don't know. But I think that idea is an old one, like how angels sometimes have two or three faces according to lore.
I think a lot of angel and demon lore came up in Judaism, like Jewish and Christian Kabbalah stuff (oh, there's a ton of mystical writing that's classified as Kabbalistic.) Most of that is from the Middle Ages, some Renaissance. Judaism has always had a council of rabbis who discuss doctrine, like what exactly constitutes keeping kosher, and exactly what can you do on the Sabbath. I think some of the angel and demon lore might have come out of those sessions, or it might be Jewish folklore that isn't in the Bible.
Folklore often talks about crows or shadows that are "psychopomps" (Greek for soul guides.) These figures, usually black (as the standard color of death in the West, though not in, say, China) take souls off to the afterlife, to heaven, hell, or a place to be reincarnated (like Summerland.) These shadowy figures show up in literature and plays and stuff because they were in folktales.
Think about Faust/Dr. Faustus. The epic poem, play, and opera. Mephistopheles, a high-up (low-down? How does the hierarchy work in hell?) demon hangs around as a literal figure in the story to work out Faust's deal with the devil and take him away when his forty years of pleasure are over. I guess shadowy figures represent that people who live decadent or evil lives have to "pay the piper" (the Pied Piper of Hamelin, look him up in the Grimm brothers collection.) But you don't get to watch them actually go to hell--you only see the afterlife once you're dead. So a way to show that someone is going to hell is to show dark figures dragging the poor wretch away.
As far as three...it isn't always three. Sometimes it's four, or six, or a bunch, or just one.

Lots of people do but if you want to save yourself a lot of probable grief, confusion, and unwelcome, inaccurate input? Check it on your own. Don't tell anybody you're doing it. Use a King James Bible and don't treat it like ordinary literature. It's pretty deep stuff that'll take resolve and patience to get to. Also, check out this website:

It's a concordance. You'll get the hang of it. Not quite brain surgery. It helps when you want to nail down something only the original language can bring to light. Don't trust the movies. For anything. They are first and foremost: Entertainment. A business. Frivolity. I ought to know, it's my second discipline plus I'm an artist. I know about images. Still and moving. Hope this helps.

It has to do with the trinity, which is a pagan belief we got from the Catholics. There is but one God and here are a few verses to back it up:
Deu 32:39; 2 Chr 6:14; Isaiah 43:10 44:6,8; 45:5,6,21; Hosea 13:4

According to the Bible Satan is the enemy of God, Christians, Jews and humans in general. He likes to attempt to imitate Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Bible -including the Holy Trinity. During the great tribulation prophesied in Revelations, these imitations will climax to a surprising peak, including Satan's own imitation of the Holy Trinity -Satan himself as father, the Antichrist as the son and the false prophet as the (un)holy spirit. But don't believe Hollywood for your information on Satan and how he operates. Only the Bible contains the truth about the devil -as well as everything else- and how to defeat this enemy.

There are a couple of theories on demons. One is that Satan, once a high ranking angel, got angry when God told the angels to bow down to men, and he and other angels rebelled, got kicked out of heaven, and are now demons, intent upon destroying man in any way they can.
There's another group, once known as the watchers, who were sent to Earth to look over humans. They started lusting over human women, married them, and had children, known as nephilim, called giants and men of renown in the bible. The watchers, after this, and after teaching humans things we weren't ready to learn yet, like weaponry, etc., we taken back to heaven an inprisoned. It's said the Noah's flood's main purpose was to rid the world of the nephilim, who had become evil.
Don't really know about the movies, though I've seen all you mentioned, just don't remember anything about 3 of anything.

Thank you for your question, and I hope you will always be interested in what the Bible says—not just about the devil, but about God and His love for you.
The Bible doesn't tell us exactly what the devil looks like; the pictures you see of him (with horns and a red suit and so forth) simply come from the artist's imagination. Similar pictures have been around for hundreds of years, however, and were meant to warn people about Satan. Satan is evil, and even these pictures should warn us not to have anything to do with him.
Satan, the Bible says, is totally evil—and yet he can disguise himself so people don't even realize who he is. In fact, the Bible says that sometimes "Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light" (2 Corinthians 11:14, KJV). Satan's goal is always to stop God's work. He tried to stop Jesus from going to the cross for our sins, and he will try to keep you from God.
Satan is real—but don't concentrate on him. Concentrate instead on Jesus, because He is stronger than Satan, and by His death and resurrection He defeated Satan. The Bible says, "The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work" (1 John 3:8). Ask Jesus to come into your life today because God loves you and Jesus wants you to walk with Him every day.

For one, movies are just Hollywood mumbo jumbo. Secondly, you can't trust the bible. It's only man made lies to subdue man. You want to learn about demons, do a search on demonology.

I haven't seen those movies, but I do know about, The Bible and the Devil.
He is called the prince of the air, a roaring lion (lions usually roar when they are weak, sick or hungry)
Hollywood makes what it wants demons and the devil to be to sell movies to appeal to certain people.
Demons and the devil don't have many stories about them, as God likes us to focus on him.
