You know, when people eat lasagna, they want the top part: chewy, crunchy, delicious. Is there any scientific reason?

I think it must be the texture of the burnt part we like so much. I love the burnt part of most everything.
Lasagna, pizza, toast, grilled cheese, any casserole, cookies, etc...

I do! My favorite food is lasagna (jambalaya makes a close second though). My favorite place to eat is anywhere where I'm with my friends or family. (I know, I'm lame. lol)

The contrast in textures, I beleive. Rachel Ray makes mini-meatloaves so everyone can have the "crust." Maybe this would work with lasagna too.

It's the burnt cheese thing. Nothing better.

It's kind of like the overdone end of meatloaf... or au gratin potatoes - it's just damn good.

Great, now I'm hungry.

It adds a depth of flavor. The reason that you would brown a roast before braising.

I don't understand it either. My boyfriend likes it when the top is crispier but I don't.
