Bake turkey at 450°F for 20 minutes; reduce heat after 20 minutes to 335 degrees. Cook turkey 20-25 minutes for each lb. A 20lb turkey = 4-6 hours; at end of 4 hours check for doneness with meat thermometer which should read 170-180 degrees (to be sure, check that the leg bone may be easily moved back and forth and away from body before removing turkey from oven. Foil may be removed to finish browning but is usually not necessary with a large turkey

The best way to make a turkey, and it is so easy, is to get a large oven cooking bag, the size that you get for turkeys, and then just clean the turkey inside and out, and stuff the turkey, put it in the bag, put a couple holes in the bag, and cook it at 350 for only about 4 hours for a 20 pound turkey, and they always come out juicy and tender! Good luck!

i use turkey roasting bags..buy them at the market, you dont have to baste at all, it takes a shorter time to cook, and is it ever good. i am brining my turkey for the first time ever, so this should make it even moister..the turkey bags are made by renolds, you put your turkey inside, with some seasonings, butter and a little flour, tie it all up, poke some holes in the top and bake according to time chart on the box..i have used them for years and love them..good luck

bake on350 and it is supposed to be 1 hour for every 4 pounds, so it would be 5 hours. I always add a half hour to each 4 lbs so that would make it 7.5 hrs. if you cook it on a high heat you risk it turning out very dry.

For a 20 pounder, if it is unstuffed cook for 3.5 to 4 hours at 350 degrees. If it is stuffed, 4.5 to 5 hours. Yummy!
