The most important thing to do is relax. My first one was uncomfortable because I was so scared that I tightened all my pelvic muscles, so when they put the speculum in, they met with resistance.
The speculum isn't horrible or painful. Here's a picture: http://www.made-in-china.com/servlet/image?compatible=true&tid=2&fid=0&lan_code=0&cache=1&id=KVEaYFQGIToj
If the one the doctor uses is metal, the dr. will run it under warm water first so it isn't cold. After the speculum is inserted, the doctor will crank it open so he/she can look at your cervix, they will then use a long swab to take a sample for a pap smear. You probably won't feel that part at all. Next the speculum is removed and the doctor will put KY jelly on one or two fingers, depending on if you are still a virgin or not and insert the finger or fingers into your vagina, while pressing down on your abdomen in different places. This is to check your uterus and ovaries. At some point in the exam, the doctor will also examine your breasts for lumps. if you are at all uncomfortable, speak to the doctor. The whole exam is over in about 20 min. You will also not be alone with the doctor. There will be a nurse in the room too.

GO EVERY YEAR!!!! It's not bad at all, pretty much like everyone else has described. The worst part is the end when the doc sticks a finger up your bum for the rectal exam - not painful , just weird, but it only lasts about 5 seconds at most. The exam will probably only last about a total of 5 minutes if everything is healthy - a small price to pay to prevent some bad stuff from happening. You may feel weird too if you happen to have to be there while it's your time of the month. No biggie - the docotrs see way worse than that - most of them also deliver babies you figure, so whatever you have going on is small potatoes in comparison.

Nothing should hurt : ) u will just feel extremely comfortable having your goodies out like that..And the only thing u will feel is pressure no pain. Dont worry, they know what they are doing. Just imagine they do this thing every single day to several people, they will talk to u and make u feel 100 percent comfortable...unless u get someone with cold hands : ) cheer up u'll be just fine, its all worth it.

It's more slightly uncomfortable than painful. But don't be embarrased or nervous - the doctors are really matter of fact about it all, so it's not that weird. It doesn't take that long either, so it'll be over before you know it and you'll feel better for having gone.

From my understanding, a gyno exam may feel "strange" and a little uncomfortable, but it won't hurt. It's a good idea to get it done so you get used to the idea of a trained professional looking after that part of you, which is susceptable to infection from time to time. Then if that happens, you will feel OK to get yourself to an ob-gyn a.s.a.p. to get the infection cleared up quickly.

Having an internal examination is not really painful... At its worst , one feels discomfort only. Relax, because tension will cause the muscles to contract making the vagina tighter thus increasing the discomfort...

Relax.... is nothing out of this world...the doctor might ask you a few private questions and check you...the gyno visits are actually pretty interesting you get to learn a lot interesting stuff about your body...ask question and be honest.....good luck

you'll feel pressure but the doctor will make you very comfortable and they have lubricants so you won't feel it at all...if you've had sex before it's like that but just constant pressure that doesn't hurt...if your doctor doesn't make you comfortable switch...you'll probably do a pap test which also doesn't hurt at all..
