Sweetened condensed milk... use it sparingly. Less is more in this case, and you can always add more. You'll need to watch the acidity level of your salad. Otherwise I'd suggest you try using a bit of Splenda, and just allowing the natural juices of the fruit, along with some lemon juice to keep it nice, sweet, and juicy.

well i know a way to make sweet fruit salad w/out using condensed milk. try this:

cut up 3 bananas put in bowl
add a can of pineapple chunk (drained)
and cut up 2 cups of green or purple grapes (or 1 cup each)

pour a little sugar on top.
mix
cover and set in refrigerator for about an hour

then enjoy

This recipe doesnt require sweetened condensed milk but it is very good. I make it every christmas and it gets eaten up. :) It is very sweet.

Ambersia Fruit Salad
2pkgs white chocolate sugar free-jello pudding mix
1can lite fruit cocktail
1 20oz can pineapple tidbits
1 can mandarine oranges
8 oz light sour cream
8 oz cool whip
mini marshmellows (optional)
chopped pecans(optional)
drain it all from cans and take 1 1/2 cups juice mix with jello pudding mix add a little at a time. Then add sour cream, fruit, cool whip, marshmellows and pecans. Enjoy! This recipe makes alot so you wouldnt have to double it.

The quantity and variety of fruit is up to you. If you want leftovers, cut up a little more. Use equal parts lime juice and sugar for the dressing, enough to coat your fruit.

1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 pineapple, peeled, cored, and cut into 1-inch pieces
1 mango, peeled, pitted, and cut into 1-inch pieces
2 kiwis, peeled and sliced
1/2 pound grapes, picked off stems
1/2 small melon, peeled, seeded, and cut into 1-inch pieces
1 pint any seasonal berries

In a small bowl, whisk together the lime juice and the sugar. Place cut up fruit in a large salad bowl, pour sugar lime mixture over fruit. Taste and adjust seasonings with more lime or sugar as needed.

My mom makes that. I looove it. Um, I would use fruit cocktail in it and also some elbow macaroni. Make sure the macaroni is just right! No one likes soggy macaroni in their fruit salad. MMmmm... I love fruit salad.
