Hello,
Your crazy German veteran is using a medifor. It is his way of trying to describe something. He could have been describing a dog being mans best friend to a rat being his perfered best friend. Dogs in a domestic enviornment are needy. They need man or woman to care for them as would a rat in a domestic enviornment. As with out food, water and care. If all was totally stripped from their domestic enviornment they could not exhist. So I would say a rat as a dog would suffer the same disease of gratitude as they are both needed animals in a domestic enviornment.
Here is a little thought for you:
The great Taoist master Chuang Tzu once dreamt that he was a butterfly fluttering here and there. In the dream he had no awareness of his individuality as a person. He was only a butterfly. Suddenly, he awoke and found himself laying there, a person once again. But then he thought to himself, "Was I before a man who dreamt about being a butterfly, or am I now a butterfly who dreams about being a man?" What is your interpretation??
Blessings,
Kelly

I lived on a farm in Ohio, believe me there are rats, (field rats) the size of some smaller dogs, I'm talking over twenty pounds! I will never live on a farm again!

if he was crazy how do you know he saw rats as big as dogs or if infact they were not really tiny horses or penguins in rat suits? and how do you know the dogs were dogs.. maybe they were gods dressed as dogs, or tiny horses... I have a tiny horse her name is Anastasia. Also it brings to mind what kind of dog? Yorkie or Great Dane? what color dog? what color rat? its a liver chestnut mini horse and penguins are mostly black and white but not all are.. and not all penguins live solely in the Antartica some live in South America or Africa even.
Thank you.
