I have a Sony audio/video surround sound system. A few days ago I was blasting some music and all of the sudden "PROTECT" started flashing. Ever since then it hasn't worked. I opened it up and the one fuse I saw seemed to still be good. What could be the problem?

Any advice would be awesome.

And if it helps any, the model number is str-d565

THANKS

Unplug it for a little bit and then plug it back in and see what happens. Before doing so, make sure that no speaker wires are touching each other at the connections. Also, be sure that your speakers are the same ohm rating that is stated at the speaker connections or in the instruction manual. That protection circuit may have "seen" something wrong while cranking it and may have not reset.
For example, I had a Kenwood that did that on me. My instruction manual told me to unplug the unit for a few minutes. Check for any connection problems or overheating conditions and clear up those matters. In my case, I overheated it. Then while holding the power switch in, plug it back in. Condition was cleared. Your SONY manual may have a similar troubleshooting routine. If that doesn't do it, then something may have gone wrong with the receiver itself.

Sonys are great.....if you need a boat anchor.
Go buy a Marantz and your problem is solved.
