I am going on a cruise to Hawai'i in December, and will be stopping at several different islands. I enjoy fairly casual activities, like hanging out at the beach for the day, etc. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to do (again, I'm going to pretty much all the islands)? Is there anything I should absolutely not miss? Any recommendations would be great!!!

I would recommend you visit the USS Missouri out on peal harbor along with the USS Arizona memorial. They are really memorable and heart warming. Diamond head in Honolulu is a good one (be sure to bring a flashlight and don't be afraid to crawl). Sunset beach to take in the sunset although anywhere you stand and watch the sun is beautiful, try the local cuisine its cheap. Take in a luau, and hang around all the beautiful beaches. Need more help the locals are very helpful and kind.

Aloha

I was only at Oahu (not the other Islands) but I think everyone should visit the U.S.S Arizonia Memorial. Also:

1. Get some "shave ice" somewhere.
2. Make sure to have a "plate lunch" which is rice, macaroni salad, and anything else on this earth.
3. Make sure to eat some Sai-Min. (Noodle Soup) Some restaurants have as many as 40 different kinds!
4. Do a lot of shopping, there are lots of things you won't find as easily (or at all) on the Mainland.

Here are few idea's in Kona/Hilo take a scenic drive around the old Volcano road & check out some of the points. While in Oahu if you can take a drive around the Island check out the North Shore Pipeline I do believe they have the surfing tournament not sure of dates than drive to the Pali Look out, since you like the beach go to Sandy's,Haunama Bay,Haleiwa or Waimea Beach don't go to Waikiki it's just for tourist & lots of them. But if you like that than go for it sorry but haven't been to the other island one day soon. I hope you have lot's of fun out there to bad you don't know anyone out there because that would be the ideal thing but have anyway. I'm going to be there in December and will enjoy my 8wks in the Sun.

There are a number of things that one really should try and do if at all possible. You should on Oahu try and see the Polynesian Village show and of course hit one of the luau's during the evening. On Maui and the Big Island of Hawaii itself a Helicopter tour of the canyons etc on Maui and of the volcano's on Hawaii is a must do and something you will remember forever. There are so many things that will amaze you like the Kal-i-pi highway, the pineapple fields of Dole, the sugar refineries, the rain forest you simply will not be able to do them all but trust me, you will find much to do there.

Just make sure you avoid the volcanoes. And hey, visit Pearl Harbor. December 7th will be the 65th anniversary this year.

pearl harbor. Its will take your breath away. to think your right there where all those men died for us. Not to gross you out but there are still bodies under the water in the ship that they have not been able to remove. so to be standing there and knowing this i cried it was very moving. It was very interesting to see the volcano's too. you walk right on them. Look for the green diamonds in the volcanic rock.awesome
