I think we're currently being conditioned to accept a Western tide of media hypothesis eager to point every finger at Syria. Don't forget, Israel is still smarting from its unresolved campaign barely 2 months ago. Both Jerusalem and Washington would welcome destabilization and chaos sparking a civil war in Lebanon - and are itching for any excuse to take further military steps toward crushing its Hezbollah forces. Don't, for one minute, put it past them to have "arranged" this latest political murder in Beirut to suit their purposes.

NO WAY,,,! - joseph m - YOU DON'T GET AWAY WITH THAT ONE...!!! Who said "Israel is damned by its silence"...? Certainly not me...!!!
But when Syria is automatically projected as the only possible bad-guy while Israel's clear motivation is completely blanked by the Western Media - then THAT is highly SUSPICIOUS...! To say the least...!!! And all I'm doing is urging folks not to believe all they the Western media hands them over Lebanon - and NOT to take their eyes off'v Israel and/or the USA...

In view of the fact that it has been widely known that Bush has been planning to 'invade' Iran for about 3 years now, nothing is a surprise to me.

Nothing surprises me about Israel's actions as I am increasingly getting the impression that they are simply a 'state' of the USA out on a limb [bit like UK are becoming - and I'm British!] Both USA and Israel are in contravention of UN demands and International Law. Israel beat the **** out of Lebanon weeks ago - they blasted the country into the ground and ruined its infrastructure and developing tourist industry. Now they have started shelling Palestinians again - it's shameful and you have to ask how they get away with it - all the time! I'm not surprised these poor people have turned to 'terrorist armed forces' for their defence - Israel is the most technically advanced and well equipped fighting force in the Middle East and they constantly abuse the human rights of the Lebanese and Palestinian people.

America and Israel both have plenty of reasons to destabilize the Lebanese gov, It has been established long ago that the moss ad is the slickest and most professional killers and espionage people this world has ever known, they are masters in disinformation , in all areas and can convince most Americans to think or do any thing they want , almost the same in Briton, and the western world, they have blown up planes etc, and the Arabs get the blame and even invent different terrorist groups so they can be blamed, to me they are awesome.

Hezbollah station their rocket launchers next to hospitals and schools, allowing innocents to be killed and maimed by israeli response attacks. Then the bbc film fake doctors scurrying around with ketchup spattered children in their arms.
Israel only ever respond to aggression by their neighbours even though they have an army capable of annhialating the the entire middle east. They bend over backwards to seek peace with these brainwashed islamic fools.
Yet you dare to accuse the middle easts only genuine democracy of murdering a peace seeking christian politician before you would suspect the terrorist hezbollah group?
The mind boggles at your ignorance.
I think that you should read up on history and sharpen up on your knowledge of politics and currect affairs.
Or you can just carry on making ridiculous remarks you read in a leftist student rag.Obviously its really "right on" and "cool" to support the "freedom fighters " of hezbollah and palestine.
If you feel that strongly , go to join the hezbollah, they have a nice job waiting for you, it involves explosives and israeli buses or restaurants. They usually dupe women or retarded children to do it , but you have so much more going for you.

Yes, it was Syria-supported Hezbollah. Israel didn't have anything to do with it despite what you had hoped.

Are you a Syrian? Sounds to me you are. Why not address the fact that there are over 100 terrorists that cross from Syria to Iraq every day?
