No crackers and certainly no bread, these types of products get lodged in birds crops, and creates various health problems, from an inability to eat to respiratory problems (once stuck in the crop it often gets moldy which causes respiatory problems ex :aspergillosis). As well they have insignificant nutritional value and have been known to cause malnutrition in birds. Bird seeds are the way to go if you plan on giving any food.

the canary will probably not survive the winter.
it may have come from a few houses away..
ask your neighbors..front/back/side and accross the st.
usually the local newpaper carrier will take out a flyer that you have seen the bird..do not name the color..the people that phone will ask if it's a blue one or yellow..
or..do nothing..but it is probably a tame bird from nearby
also the crows will attack a tame / house bird..
spca may help and come and catch the bird or give some tips

In answer to your question ."YES" it.s quite alright to feed the canary Graham Cracker crumbs. When you go into a pet store and buy treats for birds there are all kinds of hanging bars made up of fruits and nuts and there all held together by varies sweet mixes. Like Honey, a form of caramel ,peanut mixes etc. A little sweet will not hurt your little friend who is enjoying your yard.

Do you think it is a tamed bird? Will it let you come near it? If so you should offer bird seed and tiny peices of bread. If the bird seems tame then I suggest you ask neighbours if they have lost their bird

NO CRACKERS!!!! give it any type of bread as long as there is no salt or any stuff like that!!! you should see if it lets you come near it if it does check if it is hurt... be careful! oh by the way if you don't want it to come back don't feed it if you do begin to feed it it will begin to depend on you as the food source!! so be shure that you will have time and patients to crumble the bread and leave it out there for your little friend!!
