I would like to start raising money for my local animal shelter?? My friends and I all think its a good idea and they are always in need of food and stuff!! I always feel so sorry for the dogs that have to live in the outside kennals!!
I'm open for anything suggestions

Bless you! Talk to the shelter and see if they work with any rescue groups. I volunteer with a rescue group the pulls dogs out of the shelter and we foster them in our homes until they get adopted. We take the dogs to Petco and Petsmart for adoptions on the weekends. We try to do bakesales while there to raise money but we usually just don't have enough hands.
The shelter might be able to give you the name of a rescue group that they could recommend for you to help out. The more dogs we get adopted the more dogs we can pull from the shelter. We need money for all the vet bills but us foster parents usually end up buying food ourselves. Even if you raised money and then got a got a gift certificate for the petstore so the foster families could buy food for their fosters it would help them out so much. our local animal shelter is accepting cans to recycle for the money, perhaps you could do that if there is a paying recycle place near you.
Post signs around work or schools and start putting together a bake sale, yard sale, anything like that. If people know that you are doing this for a local good cause, they will help. I am proud of you for wanting to do this. I hope it works.

You could ask friends and family to donate food, litter, blankets, etc to a local shelter of your choice this year instead of giving gifts. Usually they can give to the shelter in your name, so they can keep track of how much "you" bring in.
You could ask neighbors to pitch in a bag of food, bleach, or something as well.
Before you do anything, though, check for permission through the shelter. They will also have some ideas for great fundraising.

you should consult the animal shelter first to make sure they dont mind and then create flyers and hold a fun benifit to raise money for the animals and place coffee cans with a flyer on it in local stores so people can donate their spare change. good luck you are doing a great thing

you should try and telling other people about it. they might know some good things. you should put adds in the newspaper and flayers. they always work. to start you need to know the animal shelter you are giving it to , you could ask that shelter what they need the most. if you want to get people involve just try and spread the word to everyone.
