If God created everything, and God provided religion, how are God's words so easily twisted to support violence against his own creation? Hitler used christianity to support his nationalized anti-semitism, but anti-semitism, slavery and other forms of what we now consider abuse were once supported by Christian doctrine - Spanish Inquisition anyone? Think of all the warring hotspots in the world. How many of them are fueled by the use of religious works which many say are inspired by God?
The natural counter-argument is that "We cannot understand the will of God." This means that God's will is not deductively logical.
If God isn't logical, how do we know that what he actually wants us to do is actually what he is asking us to do (which would be logical)?

Some answers disregard the understanding that if God created humans, he likewise created their brains. He knows how they will react to his words. I just assume it would be logical to conclude that his words would actually work to spread the love he talks of, but statistically, they don't. This has nothing to do with freedom of choice. Everyone is free to believe or not believe in God's word, the question is why doesn't God's word provide anyone with some benefit in the here and now?
Which of these assumptions are wrong?
God knows how the brain works
God knows how words affect the brain
God wants his creation to be happy or at peace
God could provide words that cannot be misinterpretted.
God could provide words that make us happy or peaceful that cannot be misinterpretted and still allow us to chose otherwise.
God could provide words to make peace with a set of those who chose not to follow the words.

I don't think the definition of god makes a difference in determining whether he/it/she/them could have created good and evil. When you cook eggs, you crack the eggs, maybe beat the eggs, throw them in the pan, mix them up and then they're what they are. Oddly enough, you never get in the pan. Does it matter who cooked the eggs? Could have been Grandma - doesn't seem to have any bearing on what happened in the pan - while the eggs got hot Grandma never did - she's outside the pan.
Here's my explanation of god and man:
STEP ONE: there is no supernatural definition of evil. There are no floating demons. If you look at what people consider to be evil you will find that these things are nothing more than perfectly acceptable behaviors in the animal kingdom (killing, hoarding. stealing, indifference, selfishness). Animals do not get outraged when one of their kind is killed - there is no evil in the animal kingdom - it's all about survival.
STEP TWO: Man was once just an animal without conscience. Therefore in the so called Garden of Eden he was without shame, or the ability to determine that these animal instinctual programs (what you might call evil) were wrong. Why were they necessary? Because the less intelligent man needed to survive toward evolving in to a more intelligent being. He needed to act like an animal - using instinctual programs to survive. Then he figuratively ate the apple a la the serpent (the serpent is indicative of intelligence and wisdom in many creation myths). At that point he had a conscience. The reason for this seems to be that these animal tendencies are no longer necessary toward survival when things like cooperation, self-sacrifice and love can substitute for killing, hoarding, stealing, etc.
STEP THREE: Add a creator. Why would a creator create a system whereby evil exists? Well it seems to me to be quite logical. In order that animals could evolve in to man (intelligent moral creatures), he needed all these so-called evil things to exist toward his survival and evolution. How is it now that he has created good? Well, he may have inserted it (breathed it in to us as the bible says) in to our beings. That is one possibility. The other is that morality and your conscience are natural by products of evolution and that this creator knew when he set this all in motion. In other words, that a moral being would be the end product (or at least a being with the ability (free will) to make moral choices.
DID GOD CREATE GOOD AND EVIL: Yes, it's quite logical that he/it/she/them did. And to create a system of chaos where we have animal (evil) programs and an ability to determine their existence (and uselessness) does not mean god needs to jump in the pan and j0in the eggs.
THE PROBLEM: Most people are taught to define god and morality in terms supernatural mumbo jumbo. Why was this? Because there was a time when we humans didn't know the first thing about evolution. And therefore there was no way to explain what I have just explained. It was necessary to give god human qualities and make him a being to be feared? Why feared? Because this works well with animals. In fact it still works well with animals -- that's why we use jails and the death penalty.
ATHEIST CAVEAT: It is quite possible that a moral being such as we humans could have developed without the need for an external creator. Could be that morality (like dominant genetic traits) developed in man as a means toward survival independent of the existence of any god. Atheists have every right to believe this and until there is some proof that morality was breathed in to us (and not developed) there is no real discussion that can be made one way or the other. What I think is that god could have been and was used as a tool to explain our evolution (both physically and morally) and as a means to control animal behavior. What I question is how what I believe was told simplistically and symbolically (in creation myths which pre-date the bible) when this information concerning evolution was at that time an unknown. I also have a hard time understanding how moral behavior is a better means toward survival then power, killing, hoarding, stealing, etc. I don’t believe it is. And therefore I question how it could have developed in we humans on it’s own accord.
THE SOLUTION: The ultimate solution to all of man's problems is individual personal responsibility. As John Lennon said can you imagine what could happen if all the people just suddenly decided to help each other? If all the wealthy gave some of their money to the poor? If the world began to share what it had instead of hoarding it? If we just said no to killing? Look around the world you can easily see who the animals are.

God does not support violence, and it is not His will. God is pure Divine love. These things are caused by mans rebellion and ignorance of God's Word. These things are choices made by man in an effort to gain power, wealth, control, and a myriad of other wrongs in the hearts of men. God gives us FREE choices without restraint. When we make wrong choices we suffer from them because we do not opt to be totally under the authority of Him and His righteousness (what is right for US.) He turns his back on evil choices and ALLOWS bad things to occur. He chose all things that are for our good from the beginning, but we do not accept them. It was the disobedience in the Garden of Eden that still causes strife and destruction, but it is certainly not His will, and never will be. He is the creator, not the destroyer.

There is a source you can go to in order to obtain the Truth in it's pure form. The Bible (God's Word, not Man's Word), and if you just let it interpret itself and ask the Holy Spirit for guidance instead of men like Hitler or Jesuit inquisitors, you'll find you'll understand a lot more and a lot better!
If you never give God the chance to explain His way, and you only listen to men, how can you ever understand what God is really asking us to do, or what He really wants?

It does! Are we listening? In His appointed time.
Awaiting Jehovah’s appointed time to clarify matters is the course of wisdom. “For the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will not do a thing unless he has revealed his confidential matter to his servants the prophets.” (Amos 3:7) At the same time, true Christians are convinced that Jehovah’s announced execution of judgment, “even if it should delay, . . . will without fail come true. It will not be late.”—Habakkuk 2:3.
The people who lived at the time of the global Deluge lacked a serious view of life. They went about their daily routine and failed to weep over the “badness of man [that] was abundant in the earth,” looking on with indifference as “the earth became filled with violence.” (Genesis 6:5, 11) Jesus referred to that regrettable state, and he foretold a similar attitude among people in our day. He warned: “As they were in those days before the flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark; and they took no note until the flood came and swept them all away, so the presence of the Son of man will be.”—Matthew 24:38, 39.

May be we should not take the 'teachings' so literally; I am not convinced there is an all controlling, all wise being somewhere but I am also fearful of a world where people do not believe in 'god' or something that will deter people from doing evil things.
If there is a god, would he/she/it be logical??? I wonder, on the ground that logic is man made.

I think James said it best:
Let no man say when he is tested, I am tested by God; for it is not possible for God to be tested by evil, and he himself puts no man to such a test: But every man is tested when he is turned out of the right way by the attraction of his desire. Then when its time comes, desire gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is of full growth, gives birth to death. Do not be turned from the right way, dear brothers. Every good and true thing is given to us from heaven, coming from the Father of lights, with whom there is no change or any shade made by turning.
In other words, don't blame God for the hatred and destruction of man, they do it of their own accord.
btw, your claim that not understanding the will of God means that His will is not logical is incorrect. Any puter tech will tell you that sometimes they just have to lead you step by step, even if it doesn't make sense to you.

People interpret their religious books any way that suits Them, not the good of humanity. The God you speak of is not the Creator who loves us. He does not wish for us to kill each other. Man wants to kill man-- God has nothing to do with that decision.
(Also, I really wish when people don't have an answer, they wouldn't give one. ie, 'there is no god')
