I didn't realize my female was in heat yet and my dogs got "tied" IN THE HOUSE last night. When they finially came loose there was a bloody mess on the floor. Is that normal?

I know they drop blood when they are in heat but right when the male pulls out is it okay for the female to release a small pool of blood?
