It would range in severity depending upon the firecrackers function. It could be a mild burn to blowing your entire hand off. Not a terribly intelligent thing to do, so I would advise you not to do it. My little sister was the victim of a person being irresponsible with fireworks. It was one of those crackers that explode high in the air and a soldier floats down with a parachute, well he lit it and it didn't go off, so he threw it in the bonfire. It went off. The charge and the soldier flew out but not up, it landed on my little sisters foot and burnt the crap out of it. If a fire cracker is a dud, bury it in dirt, do not throw in a fire or in a bin. Just thought my sisters pain could be a lesson for you.

I really hope you are just being a smart alec. It is bad enough to have to explain how you accidently blew up your hand while playing with fire crackers let alone having to tell someone you did it to see what would happen.
Nothing good would happen that is for sure and if the fingers were blown off they can not be reattached, as mentioned by someone else, because the ends would be to mangled to get good blood flow restoredl.
And as far as some of the answers posted here, you have got to be kidding. Why would you even sarcastically tell someone to do this? And if someone did do it would you want them telling the ER staff, "well so and so told me to try it." I would hate to have someone like you giving advise to someone asking about ways to commit suicide. Not all questions are a joke even if they sound like one. GROW UP!!!!!

At the very least you would get burned, at the worst you could blow a finger off. I guess it would depend on how big of a firecracker you let off...

It would sting and feel numb for a few seconds.

And then you check to see if your fingers are still there. If not, pick up the digits , put them on ice and go to the emergency room to have them reattached.

PS These are things that adults would sheepishly admit to have done when they were 7 to 9 yrs old (the dingbat years).

That depends on what type of fire cracker and whether your hand was closed around the fire cracker or if your hand was open with the fire cracker sitting on your palm. Either way, it's probably not a great idea unless your just trying to tidy up the gene pool.

Several things could happen, but none of them are good. You could lose your whole hand or just a couple of fingers. Either way I suggest you don't try it unless you want this to happen.

I can tell you because they have been banned here for quite some time. I know a kid who lost their fingers, another who lost an eye, one who lost their hearing cause it went off near his ear and blew out his ear drum...are you starting to understand what GUNPOWDER is yet? That's what is in there...it's a mini bomb kid.

It would be a little painful! You could lose a finger or two. I don't recommend it.
