I do think that the wall is a very good idea, a little late, but a good idea...
But...
This is what I think the US needs to do with illegal immigrants that want to come live here in the great United States of America...
As soon as they step foot in our country illegally, whether they get caught as soon as they step over the border or they've been here 10 years illegally, throw their as*es on a plane and fly them overseas to Iraq to serve in the United States military. Let them know that if they want to be a citizen of the US, then they got to start acting like one by serving in our Armed Forces. If they want to become citizens bad enough, then after they serve their 4 or 7 or however long years in the service fighting and dying for this country, then I think they should be granted citizenship....if...they finish their service for this country.
The wall is a start, but I think that if the government wants to ward off illegal immigrants, then this might get more results.

There should be a wall about 10 feet high, with a 20 foot trench in front and behind, motion detectors all over the place with guardposts every mile, another barbed fence behind the trench to further discourage the illegals.
There wil plenty of jobs available just maintaining the wall.

I think it is all a waste of money if the illegals want to be here and work they will find one way or another. They have been doing it for all these years with a border what is a wall going to stop them. They will just have to pay more for someone to bring them illegally.

I Think It Should Be A HIGH WALL, About 20 Feet High
And 10 Feet Below The Grade
About 6 Feet Thick At The Base
Tapering To 1 Foot At The Top
With A 10 Foot High Chain Link Fence At The Top
Capped With Concertina And Razor Wire
On A More Realistic Approach ...
A serious commitment to border security
would require fencing off the entire southern border—
all 1,891 miles of it.
(For comparison,
we have 40,000 miles of Maintained US Interstate Highways.)
At $1.7 million per mile
(the cost of the first 10 mile stretch in San Diego),
the entire U.S.-Mexican border could be sealed off
all 1,891 miles of it
for $3.3 billion dollars.
Iraq spending equivalent: 13.8 days.
Cost/benefit analysis, anyone?

It should stretch from Brownsville, Texas, touching the coast of the Gulf, to the Tijuana entrance touching the coast of the Pacific Ocean. It should be thick, about 100 feet (at least) wide, and made of brick.
Yes, after deporatation of mexican illegals , and the building of the wall, there will be more jobs for American's.

No, we need to get our military back from Iraq and equip them and enable them to defend our borders! This would be more effective. They will always find a way around, over, under this wall. There is the issue of corrupt border patrol who accept pay for allowing some to cross the border. We need to clamp down on all controlling our borders and ports and monitor them.

little or no of the wall is totally finished. the completed equipped blanketed the sections of motorcar obstacles (about 3' severe) as accomplished fence. it really is vitally worry-free for them to positioned ramps over the barrier and force properly over it. there is video of this taking position. There are also sections that basically have, in reality, timber x's positioned in a line. i do not comprehend what it really is meant to resign. There numerous excuses now to not construct, flooding, wild animals are reduce off from feeding grounds, destroying organic habitat and others. they're even with each thing, basically excuses, no longer actual causes to resign ending contact of the pedestrian fencing. even with each thing if the fence is accomplished illegals can't flow and Mx & S AM can't get rid of their negative, uneducated, criminals and medicines. Remittances are their 2d greatest source of income.

Obviously, there needs to be something done, but a fence is just a quick fix. Businesses and employers are making huge profits targeting illegals, so that's why nothing's been done this far. The real problem is Mexico's economic structure, government, and entire sociology, which would be a problem taking decades to solve, if anyone ever tries.

Who knows , but whats more important is who is coming into this country and what harm they will do in and to the US .
Bush is not protecting this country from terrorist , if the borders are not closed .
If we want a fence along the border , we'll have to fund it ourselves , the Government won't do it .
Do you know who crossed the borders today and what they brought with them ??????

Expensive, ineffective and it does nothing to address the root of the problem, namely Mexico's lousy economy and corrupt political system. As long as we ignore these things no wall could be high enough or thick enough.
