I personally think they are both annoying but religous fanatics are a tad more dangerous if you look at history.

The religious fanatic.
Atheists keep to themselves. Religious fanatics want to convert the entire world. Many of them will also die in the name of their religion. Have you ever heard of someone dying in the name of atheism?

Edit: Also, religious fanatics are absolutely the most dangerous for this key reason: They think that God approves of their violence and bigotry. They think, no matter what laws they break and no matter how many people they hurt, that they've got God on their side. And someone with that kind of mindset will not be easily stopped. There's nothing more dangerous than someone like that.

Honestly...a hardcore atheist may just want to be left well enough alone. But religious fanatics have been known to start dangerous cults. Atheists don't form cults or anything that stage mass suicides.

With the fall of the Roman Empire, the librarian of Alexandria was pulled off her carriage and skinned alive. Literacy dropped. Even the Pope had to have the Bible read to him. In the first crusade, Christians killed tens of thousands of people they called "infidels". The Children's Crusade (1212) caused the deaths of nearly 50,000 children. Preachers sentenced to death and executed thousands during the Inquisition (1233-1834) for heresy and witchcraft. There were the Salem witch trials (1692) in America. The 17th Century Thirty Years War (Catholics v. protestants) wiped out tens of millions in Europe. In the Taiping Rebellion in China in the 1850's a Christian cult started a war that resulted in the slaughter of twenty million people. In the Holocaust six million Jews were murdered. Muslims and Christians in Bosnia reached a death toll of over 250,000.

Religious fanatics. Hardcore atheists don't hit you with holy books. And they just don't band together in numbers the way religious fanatics do. e.e

Annoying isn't the same as dangerous - how do we separate those off?
You want to ask how many atheists strap explosives to themselves or try to assassinate people for performing certain kinds of operation. We may be annoying to people who can't bear to have their ideas challenged, but the danger from atheists is pretty minimal.

The fanatic. Atheists don't run around hurting people who disagree with them or blow themselves up. Or bomb buildings they don't like. Or shoot doctors. Or try to ban music. Or try to get religion into science. Or rewrite history. Or deny scientific fact. Or insist that everyone else deny scientific fact. Or make women wear scarves, shawls, or burka. Or...

I'm yet to see an Atheist bomb a medical centre, or suicide bomb any thing and Ive not seen any wars being conducted in the name of Atheism, so I'm leaning to the religious sector on this one.
