you'll need your bodyfat below 10% in order to show your abs.

so that means a very clean diet -- no white sugars, flours, candies, little bread or pasta. Eat fish and other lean meats, get plenty of healthy fats (salmon, tuna, nuts, fish oil caps), and eat veggies, fruits, and complex high fiber carbs like sweet potatoes.

You'll need to exercise - full body with big compound movements like squats, rows, push ups, pull ups, lunges. You don't need to go overboard on crunches or other "ab" exercises. they should be part of a routine but not dominate.

Great abs come from dieting and building a strong and healthy body overall and then having strong back and abdominal muscles.

Eat right, drink plenty of water, and start a good strength training routine 2-4 times a week and you're on your way. Just remember, you'll need to be at 8% bodyfat or so, and this IS NOT easy for most people

good luck

At 17, you're old enough to use adult exercises. Ab crunches (sit ups) are a good start. Vary these to get at all the muscles - straight situps (knees bent), twist situps (where you turn to the right or left as you sit up), and pelvis lifts (keep your torso on the floor and lift your thighs and hips up). When you do situps of any kind, do them slowly, hold them at the top, let down slowly. You do not have to lift up very high to get the full benefit. Full situps are out of date for developing abs. There are also lots of books on the market on this subject - and some are probably in your public library. The other thing to do is to keep the fat off your abdomen area, otherwise your abs won't have good definition.

im 17 my self and im trying to develop my own set of great abs. the problem i had was that i had a great set of abs like you could grate cheese on them, but the problem was that i had fat on top so what i did was i cut out pop, and fatty foods, it was hard at first to cut the panzoroti from my lunch but switching to a bowl of pasta or salad helped. what i am saying is you need to eat right and if you really want a nice set of abs you need to eat health workout.
the way i work out is
#crunches
#leg lifts
#left obliques
#right obliques
then # of bicycle crunches to finish up
replace # with what you can achieve

makes you have a nice feeling the next day

you already have good abs. Body fat percentage is key - cardio cardio cardio- if you want the ripped 6pack - 1000 situps aren't the key - better to do 15 inverted curls - with weight on your chest start small - say 5 pounds until your groin gets accustomed - as this will be very new to your body - but abs - like any muscle- grow fastest with heavy weight - 100's of situps won't accomplish

Just look at this childish question and others submiited by immature, naive children YES their vote would make a big difference, it would destroy the greatest country in the free world, since they don't know American history, don't understand economics, have no business sense, and still have to depend on their parents for their own existence.

Sensible diet and a balanced strength training and cardio routine.

No amount of situps or crunches will give you abs unless those are in order.
