Well in the State of California you have to be at least 16 to get a tattoo with parental permission.. Meaning the parent goes with you. Otherwise 18 is the limit.

I don't know about California, but Washington is 18 regardless of parent permission, and if a parent does allow it and someone wanted to be mean, the parents can be charged with child abuse. So make sure to check out the laws :)

Many references that I can find show that it was 16 and was changed to 18. Reading the tattoo law shows no age limit at all. It is probably up to the artist and I doubt that anyone would do it if you are under 18.

Not sure about California, but I thought with you parents OK you could be any age. I was 16 when I got my belly button pierced her in Florida and I had my mom's permission.

You have to be 16 or 17 and have parental consent. The parent must be there as well. It will be up to the tattoo artist though. Many of them won't do it because there is no actual proof that the adult you brought with you was your parent and they refuse to put their lively hood at risk for one individual. I saw this happen almost every time I was waiting for my next tattoo. Why not just wait until you turn 18... its not that far off.

Most states are 18 at the youngest, regardless of parental consent. I believe some state are 19 or 20 now, but don't quote me on that part.
