Pain is your body complaining about possible damage. If you can mentally know that you are not really damaged then it is possible to ignore the pain. It is still technically painful, but since you can handle it you can act like it doesn't hurt.

When the guys eyes squint up like an asians and he lets out little oofs of pain-they kinda point out that YES! abso-freaking-lutely it hurts him-but he must hab ABS if he's able to restrain it like that....
