Yes, for a couple reasons: The pain may be referred (coming from another tooth, but you're feeling it in the area where the old tooth was.)
Sinus infection- There is a sinus near the jaw called the maxillary sinus. If it gets infected, it can cause the same symptoms of a toothache, even if there is no tooth. (I know about this personally, it happened to me!)
There are probably other reasons too.
Good luck!!! Hope this helps!!

Yes, but it is also possible you're experiencing what my dentist calls "referred pain" - another damaged tooth is flaring up, and the pain is being confused or 'referred' to another dental area.
This happened to me with a cracked molar - while the perceived sensation was that the pain was lower first molar, the damaged tooth was in fact upper second molar.
At least something to consider. Best to you.

yes, i call it phantom tooth pain. I had my wisdom teeth out years ago but now and then I still get toothache where they used to be. If you can get phantom limb pain then I dont see why it doesnt apply to teeth as well.

when did you have the tooth taken out, if it was in the last 2days you could have a dry socket which is very painful and means you will have to go back to your dentist, if not it could be the tooth on either side which is causing the pain. you should go to your dentist

not with me.I'm 52 years old and have had a few teeth pulled. now i have heard of ghost pain, normally occurring with amputees, where they may pain in the foot when in fact, they have no leg at all.if you have pain where you say, i bet you dollars to donuts, you have something still left in the gum that the doc missed.pain is most often an indication that there is a problem. now it does take a while to heel after an ext ration,so be wise about this, don't let it go to long.BE TRUE TO YOUR TEETH AND THEY WONT BE FALSE TO YOU.
