If you're mentioning this to us, definately mention to GP. And what I used to do when i was unhappy was write down everything happy thats ever happened to me. Sit down and think off all ur happy memories, and write them down individually on different bits of paper, fold paper, an put in a jar. After thinking of all ur happy memories, you should feel a lot happyer remenissing. Everytime something good happens, write it down and put in the jar.
Then whenever you feel unhappy, shake the jar and pick a happy memory out and think about it, and think of how lucky you are to experiance that happy memory.
And generally in day to day life like at work where you may not have access to your special jar, just think positively, and if you find it hard to do this, turn the bad thing around, so say (random example, but u should get the idea!) if you go to buy a choccie bar and theres no more left, dont get down from it, think of all the calories you'd be saving, and the walk alone would have done you good.

Just enjoy life, and yes, speak to your GP xx

Make an appointment when you into the office breath in deep and just say I'm not happy any more, it's not going away and I know or feel I should be happy. The doctor will explain your levels of serotonin needs to be regulated and he'll prescribe either Prozacs or selexia may be effexor. Your a female think how hard it is to approach a doctor being a guy, that's hard.

By the sound of your question you are looking for help by other means ,Maybe anti-depressants.
You need to ask yourself WHY do you feel unhappy.

1.Is there a reason Like work-relationship-Drink-Drugs-personal problems?
2.Your diet also plays a big part in how you feel physically and mentally.

Generally there is normally a reason and prescription drugs are a last resort as they can be more of a problem than a way out.

Try natural products Like
st Johns wart
gensing
Provided you are ok in taking these.
Theres lots out there which may help but are also not quite as extreme.

you have not said why your not happy .If you know the answer to this you know what to do , fix it. Your life is your own it is up to you to live it. Be more positive in everything that u do. Exercise more which gives you the feel good factor and every morning say this out loud 'every day in every way i am getting better and better'. This really works if you say it positively. Come on you have got to help your self, you have taken your first step by asking the question just don't let it sit with that.

You may be suffering from depression, which causes low spirits and sadness. Talking to your doctor is wonderful advice that you gave yourself. Just come right out and tell the doctor how you've been feeling.

Depression can be treated with proper medication. Trust me, I know. You will feel so much better once your problem is corrected. Good luck.

firstly id steer clear of the docs hun, try writing a diary of your feelings that way you can get it all off your chest in a controlled manor, the reason id steer clear of the docs is if your feeling depressed there is a simpler method to combat this and i no coz iv been there and it works..take yourself to ur local supermarket or chemist and get a bottle of capsules called ST JOHNS WORT, i was reccomended them via a friend as i was feeling pretty low myself, u just follow the dosage instructions on the tub (1 a day ) and in bout 6 wks u should b feeling the benefits,st johns wort is a natural non addictive herbal anti depressant and as long as you stick with it and dont expect ova nite miracles u wll b feeling tickety boo in no time so give them a go GOOD LUCK X

quite simplistic to say look at the cause. I take fluoxetine (prozac) as I suffer from depression. My mother insists I should just 'snap out of it', if only it was that simple. Its a disease and should be treated as such. There should be no stigma attached to taking medication to control it - you wouldn;t think that about taking medication for a heart defect or other more socially acceptable illness. Take advice ASAP, I tortured myself for 5 years thinking I was just wanting too much from life. Sometimes its more than just you being 'moody' and 'over sensitive'.

Yes talk to your GP. Mild depression is easily treatable. Just explain that you have been feeling down abd give the doc a bit of history...;

Yes you should mention it and the best way is just as you have said it here, I have been unhappy for quite a while and its not going away. Treatment now will stop it worsening.
