Women have a higher proportion of body fat and less water in their bodies than men. This means that alcohol is less diluted and will have a stronger affect on women. Therefore women will generally be affected more quickly than men, even if they are the same size, and they'll feel the effects longer.
The liver is where the body finishes breaking down alcohol. A healthy man's liver takes about an hour to process one drink. A healthy woman's liver will generally take longer.

It can be. Alcohol circulates differently in women than in men. Women get drunk a lot easier because the alcohol stays in our bodies a long time while it goes through men quickly. This means that alcohol is in the liver and stomach longer in woman too. Therefore the risks of alcohol are worse in women than in men.
