I have a tv addiction and a internet addiction. I have to watch tv and see my emails every day. How can I break this habit? It does not affect my everyday life but, I hate that I'm wasting my time doing this. Please help, I need advice.

They show the Kaufman Spectrum of TV addiction. Its really interesting.

Also this is a internet addiction survey:

Try not to do it for three weeks. Unless your job or your studies depend on it, do not open your emails. Just try it. You don't loose anything trying.

Having this same problem has made me realize how many other people like you have this problem as well.

It is a secret epidemic, because almost no one will admit to it, plus it is becoming more and more acceptable in our society (especially in America).

But the truth of the matter is that spending too much time on either the Internet or watching t.v. or movies is not healthy, physically or mentally.

Spend the time you normally would spend on the latter activities exercising or doing more active things like reading, volunteering in your community, or doing anything else that you are good at or that challenges your mind or body.

Lol I have the exact sme problem as you, I could not go one simgle day without my beloved pay tv and if I had to I would die, lol. And the same with the internet too, maybe to break the addiction you could find something else to do. If you can, get a puppy or a kitten to play with and take care of, or maybe join a social group, or do jig-saw puzzles. Lol, I dunno I wish I wasn't so tv and internet addicted.

I too have this problem.
Take a vac somewhere that does not have any computer or internet access. Then when you come home you won't use it so much. Also unsubscribe from cable and the net. Use it only at the Library.
