I am sure that you are not defeated, you just feel like you are not doing things right. what you need to do in the evening take a walk 15-20 minutes or a short 10 minutes to start, after a couple of day you will have more engery and a up attitude. If that helps go for longer runs on the weekend. things always look brighter with you are out and about. If you can run with friends that would also help and you will see your old self come back and then you will motavate yourself.

Yep, there are all kinds of things that can help but what motivates your is speific to YOU. I like simplicity so here are a few things that work for me:
1) A new book...refreshes the mind
2) Uplifting music...dance, pop, rock...whatever energizes you
3) A good friend
4) Warm bath
5) Fresh air
6) Massage
7) Tanning (yes, yes I know tanning beds are bad for you, but I risk it once or twice in the winter to get a bit of sunlight)
8) Mini makeover (haircut, new clothes, manicure)
I know these things sound trivial and not very deep but sometimes the easiest, most basic things work the best.
There's this song...Sometimes Wanna Die by a group called Joydrop. For some reason, I love this song. Eventhough it sounds morbid, it's not. It's about self defeat and getting beyond it...always helps me to listen to it. Then I know I'm not the only one who feels this way :)

Yes, follow Xani's advice, because exercise and almost any challenging physical activity will boost your mental state, especially competitive activities like b-ball, football, or tennis (all of which are in season right now).
If you have been this way for a very long time and have not talked to your doctor about it, it is time to do so, and don't be afraid or reluctant if he or she recommends taking meds or going to therapy, since it has helped me and many other people like me with depression, even the mild form.
Furthermore, spend more time around people if you do not do that already, since it is when you are alone that the depressive feelings and thoughts come the strongest.

I know this feeling.
Go get some sleep and start again the next day.
You need a good rest and energy to continue your goal.
Getting drunk won't work, it will just make it worst.
