ohh god , i had these a few times when i was young ( like 10 ) first off if u have long hair, u gotta cut it, like shoulder length, this makes it easier to comb through with the nit comb, less work to do, and the nit combing is like essential, to get rid of mine i had three ppl going over my head daily with the combs and daily washings with the shampoos, like leaving it on for a period of time like its directed on the box. Also wash EVERYTHING with hot / warm water, bedding, stufed animals, clothes, pillows...vaccuum carpets too !

oh goodness me - how drastic andrea !! You don't need to cut your hair, or shave it off.

Try lemon juice and get to the chemist tomorrow to get a good lice shampoo, read the instructions and use it properly. Hot wash your pillow covers and soft toys you sleep with in the same shampoo.

You need to kill off the lice and then cover your hair in conditioner and comb out on a regular (daily) basis - with the appropriate type of comb - your chemist will be able to supply. It will take about a week to get rid of the nits.

Most importantly dont be embarassed into doing anything drastic like cutting your hair. There is no need.

I'm a social worker and I see this all of the time unfortunately - the little comb is the key - I swear - it takes a LOT of patience and time to get every last nit and bug. I have heard that peanut butter works - covering your head in it and letting it set for a while and then combing it out - but have never heard if it works or not.
Make sure you are changing bedding, washing clothes, etc.
Best of luck

Purchase a lice comb and shampoo. Blow dry your hair and flat iron it. Not for style to get rid of dem damn lice! They HATE heat. Some links below of ridding the little lothesome creatures. Shaving your head does NOT help at all. Comb your hair under lots of light like two or three lamps. They are light sensitive and artificial light works better then natural. Try to curl your hair. They like straight hair rather than curly. A special eletrice comb for lice helps eletrocute them and the stuff in their eggs. Castor oil is said to help but I dunno. Rinse your hair with peppermint and lavendar thoroughly massage it into your scalp and rinse with hot water. Think like head lice. Change their enviroment quickly and extremely and they cannot survive.

I had the same problem like 4 moonths ago. Try putting a cheap gel in your hair very thickly to smother the lice, do that every 4 days for like 3 times. make sure you comb out your hair twice or more daily with a knit removal comb and if you have long hair use more gel don't cut it. If you don't have gel use a cheap conditioner. with the gel or conditioner let it sit on your head for like five minutes then wash it out. rit usually burns the scalp and gel and conditioner won't.

Nix and Rid should work, maybe you are not treating your home properly. You need to treat the furniture and the carpet, wash your bedding and clothing in hot water. Bag up any stuffed animals you may have and leave them in there for a few days in the coldest temp. possible [freezer].

Comb the hair about 3 times a day they will be gone before you know it.
