I don't know how to keep a cat from doing what comes natural to the cat, which is to climb trees and "attack" wiggly things, like branches and ornaments.
I do know however, that I get a good chuckle out of the mischief cats get into.
Like the few times I have seen a cat run up a Christmas tree, the tree falling over, a few seconds where the cat is apparently STUNNED because why would a cat EXPECT a TREE to fall down and then a few seconds later watching the cat SHOOT out of the tree.
Seems like Holiday fun and cheer to me. Fun for the entire family.
Peace.

There is repellant ou can buy at gardening stores to keep, dogs, cats and other animals from urinating on bushes outside your home, if it is a natural tree add some this to the water under the tree, otherwise, put some in tissues, tie them with string and hang them from the bottom of the tree nearest the trunk, cats have a very keen sence of smell, they can pick up the scent a mile away and will stay away for the tree.
My last cat use to urinate on the tree skirt, and sit under it for some reason, and it was artifical???

The best way to keep a cat away from something is get a spray bottle full of water and when the cat get near it spray him. I wont hurt him but he will hate it and he will think that whenever he get near the tree he will get sprayed with water.

Keep the tree in a room where the cat isn't allowed. Otherwise, your only other option is to not get one. I have 2 cats and because they jump on everything, I've had to opt to not getting one.

There are a pair of approaches that artwork. Squirting her with a sprig bottle is efficacious, yet try to be there whilst she is messing with the tree. If this is a extensive issue, you will get scat mats and positioned them around the tree. it is going to offer her a mushy ask your self whilst she steps on them. It won't harm her, purely startle her. attempt giving her extra toys to play with so the tree would not have as plenty charm. additionally take care of the tree with piano twine to the wall so she would have the capacity to't knock it over. positioned extra fragile embellishes bigger up and by no ability use tinsel in case you have a puppy. they are going to bite on it and it may decrease up their intestines. it rather is annoying to have a puppy and a tree, yet once you compromise for the certainty that some embellishes will flow lacking and the bows and tags would be bumped off, you have the two.

Id leave it without ordiment for a few days so they can get used to it and not brake anything but keep them out of the room when you arent there because they could die from eating iit
When you do put the ordements on put only the non brakable tings on the bottom and be careful with tinsel where thay can get it

When my cat misbehaves, I get out my spary bottle with water. If your cat does something bad just spray it a little with water. It will then learn to not do that thing because it doesn't want to get sprayed again. This is an old trick and it works! Try it!

I really don't know other then keeping the cat out of the room.
A heads up.............be very careful with the tinsel, if you use it as it can cause all kinds of intestinal problems and even kill your cat if it eats it.

I use Boundary cat repellent. You can find it at petsmart.com. Works for about 16 hours per application.
