I've been playing for about 30 years and have never had a hole in one. When I first started playing I figured that at some point I'd have to have a hole in one to be considered a decent golfer. However, what I witnessed on a golf course about 20 years ago changed my opinion of the hole in one. A fellow in a group in front of mine had hole in one. The thing is though, his backswing looked as if he was preparing to split firewood. His downswing looked like some sort of involuntary muscle spasm. The actual shot was the very definition of a skull shot, which bounced at least a half a dozen times on its way to the green. But it ended up in the hole just the same. Personally, I'd be much more impressed by a double eagle. A double eagle would generally have to be a much more solidly struck shot.

I'm 14 years old. I've been playing for 7 months now and I have 1 hole-in-one.
I play at The Bridges Golf Club in San Ramon, California. It is the 4th hardest course in Northern California.
This is their site: http://thebridgesgolf.com/
On the 7th hole, it is 162 yards and about 10 hards downhill. The pin was front left and I used a 5-Hybrid. I hit it perfect and it went really high and straight. It bouced 5 feet in front of the hole and bounced twice and just barely went in on the side of the cup.

Zero. I've been playing golf for 20 years and I'm a 10 handicap. My mom's been playing for 4 years and she already has 1.

Same number as the number of replies before mine... zero. I have been close many times, but never had a hole in one. I have played for 12 years and the best I ever got was within 2 inches. Of course I have had numerous eagles on par 5 holes - 4 of those.

I have had one hole in one in a span of 21 years playing golf. I am 28. I have had 13 double eagles though which have more meaning in score but less as something to brag about.

Congrats Pat! 2 in nine years is good. It took me 25 years to get a hole in one. I was a scratch golfer as well.
Here's what happened. I was playing in a golf tournament. They had prizes for hole in one's on all the par 3's. Well on this particular hole they had a new computer for a hole in one. So I was allll excited!! We get into the club house. Some other guy had already had a hole in one on that hole, so he got the prize and not me.
Story of my life. I still only have 1.

Congrats! 2 in 9 years is good. I have none. If I can make some birdies in par 3 and keep myself under 2 putts for others, I am already very happy.

I have one....a par 3 / 158 yards....and I must admit, it was pretty sloppy. I didn't even hit the green......it landed short, ran up on the green, and dropped in. Pretty lucky, but I'll take it.
Best thing was, I was golfing with a buddy who was talking crap about beating me and I called the "hole in one" before I hit the shot. My buddy said he would drop his shorts and walk up to the green if I did it !!!! He kept his word....man was that a funny day that we still laugh about.
