If a girl/boy cannot look into their partner's eyes for anything more than a split second (and they avert their gaze) does that mean that they are not truly interested in the person?

I think it means they are afraid of intimacy...doesn't mean they're not interested...
It could mean they're shy too which is another way of saying the above...

No, maybe they just have a short attention span.
You know, I dated a girl once that couldn't decided which eye to look into (this is the truth) so when she would look into my eyes, her eyes would dart back and forth. She had to go!

Not at all. I think it just means they are shy. I love my husband dearly but don't always make eye contact.

no some people just don't like eye contact or are just to scared to look into there eyes. they could be in love with them you'll never know until you talk to them about it.

no!!!! I hate looking into peoples eyes even if they are just friends. Its weird but it doesn't mean they like you or don't like you, but if they can look into your eyes then more power to you but don't stress over it.good luck!!!!
