Hebrews 10:26

If anyone sins deliberately by rejecting the Savior after knowing the truth of forgiveness, this sin is not covered by Christ's death; there is no way to get rid of it.

What does this mean? I'm having trouble understanding it. Thanks

So basically I'm finding out that I'm going to hell, because a while back I knew something was a sin, but did it anyways, so therefore its not covered by Jesus.

Hi Justin, This simply means, that if we continue to do a sin God has convicted us about and we repent for, then we continue sinning, believing God's grace will cover us (Romans 6-8) God cannot accept that, habitual sin, it also allows the devil a foothold in our life, we are just mocking God if we continue to live sinning on purpose after accepting Jesus, and the truth God has revealed to us. 2 Peter 1:1-13 (this shows how to stop being sinful.)

Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

(Psa 119:142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and Your LAW IS THE TRUTH!!!)

27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Revelation 22:12-15—
12 And behold, I come quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give every man according as his work will be.
13 I am the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
14 BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO KEEP HIS LAWS, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15 For outside are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and worshippers of gods (elohim) and everyone who professes to love, yet practices breaking the Law.

Learn to keep the Laws.

When people deliberately reject Christ's offer of salvation, they reject God's most precious gift. They ignore the leading of the Holy Spirit, the one who communicated to us God's saving love. This warning was given to Jewish Christians who were tempted to reject Christ for Judaism, but it applies to anyone who rejects Christ for another religion or having understood Christ's atoning work, deliberately turns away from it (see Numbers 15:30-31 and Mark 3:28-30). The point is that there is no other acceptable sacrifice for sin than the death of Christ on the cross. If someone deliberately rejects the sacrifice of Christ after clearly understanding the Good News teaching about it, then there is no way for that person to be saved, because God has not provided any other name in all of heaven for people to call on to save them (see Acts 4-12).

These verses should be read carefully. Verse 29 defines "willful sin," which was used in verse 26. Willful sinning in this passage carries the idea of consciously and deliberately rejecting Christ. It is a knowing, deliberate rejection of Jesus’ great work for us on the cross. This passage is not speaking of a believer who falls away or sins, but rather someone who may claim to be a believer, but truly is not.

If you hear the gospel message and understand how to be saved and deliberately decide against accepting Christ, you are guilty of this sin. God promises to give everyone the chance to come to Christ, but He doesn't promise more than one chance. Today is the day of salvation, because He may not be calling you tommorrow. Many denominations consider this the "unpardonable sin" spoken of in scripture. Rejecting Christ is the only sin that will keep you out of heaven.

It means that if you know better, then you should do better. As much as known there is just as much required. Christ can't be accountable for a sin that you deliberately committed unless you are sincere. The scripture is also saying that we as Christians no longer sacrifice bulls and lambs, so our sins are in our own hands.

This verse is referring to DELIBERATELY & REPEATEDLY sinning after you know the truth and accept it. He is trying to tell you that just because you've been saved you can't keep living in sin because it will not be covered by that first conversion experience. Sin is sin. It will not be allowed into heaven.

In simplest terms, this verse, when taken in context, means that if we reject the salvation that Jesus Christ provided when He died on the cross, there is no other sacrifice that is left that will allow us to escape the judgment of God. To know that we can only be rescued from our sin through Jesus Christ, and to look elsewhere is futile.

This speaks of false conversion- This goes along with the parable of the Sower in Luke. It means that they were not rooted in the truth- but swept away by the world. They continued to sin- I know somone in my life like this- She prayed the prayer and the next day was into sin and everyday after that....some people just dont "get it" --their ears have to be opened and the veil lifted off of their eyes. They were never saved to begin with.

When you come to the Lord for the first time in your life, you are forgiven for all of the sins you committed when you were not with God. If after that, you go back to that life of sin, God will forgive you but you will have to deal with the consequences. You will be punished for it. David knew the Lord, and then he committed a serious sin knowing that it was wrong. The Lord fogave him, but he was still punished for it.
