Yes, they check when you get on the Eurostar. The French Police sometimes do random check for security reason but you are already in the EU so there is no such thing as border control when you have arrived in France.

I travelled on the Eurostar in March, admittedly before the recent scares. They check your passport at Waterloo before you go through to the pre-boarding area. I can't remember if they scanned it thouugh, sorry!

Yes, you have to show your passport before u get on the train. You will have to show it after you have checked in automatically.
They sometimes write down your ID information and it is possible that they double check your passport or ID.

you will bypass French immigration earlier you may get on the prepare in London. All passports of non-ecu/EEA citizen would be checked and stamped. earlier you may get lower back on the prepare in Brussels or Paris you will bypass Belgian or French go out immigration, lower back passports of non-ecu citizen would be stamped. then you will bypass British immigration in Belgium or France earlier you may get on the Eurostar prepare..

Absolutely have all your paperwork together, however, I have never seen them use the scanners like in the airports.

You do need a travel document. ie. a passport (+visa) if you are not a EU citizen.
If you are a EU citizen, an identity card will be enough.
The reason: France is in Schengen space, UK is not.

getting on the eurostar.is no different from getting a air plane.and that means you must show your passport before you get on the train.
