Interesting Question I read your other question and some of the answers. I dont believe in god either. I have often wondered why faith and the belief in God has to be taught. Why isnt it an instinctual thing. Why was brute force used to spread the word of God. What are they afraid of that and made them kill and fight wars? Personallly I think people hit a mental barrier and use God as an excuse. They use it as some sort of mental crutch. We suppose to have free will to do what we want and when we want. To believe in God removes a part of that free will because then you have to obey something other than your own free will. It is amazeing how people react badly when you ask these type of questions. Not very Christain like attitude. Surely their faith is strong enough to take these questions with out getting all hot under the collar.
I shall come back to this question to read the rest of the answers as like you I find it interguing.
Just an opinion of one man.

Let's suppose something similar then. Do you believe in Society? It has no physical form to speak of, yet seems as a concept to wield great power.
Air, again, is not a single thing; rather, it is a mesh of several different finite elements. Were you to separate air into its components, the identity of the whole as "air" would be somewhat diminished.
The notion of concepts without instances is an inherent result of the interaction between finite bodies. The Game of Chess is something above and beyond the board and the pieces, the Toaster is more than a heating element with shelves for bread and the Computer is more than a series of transistors and lights. Invisible interactions play a vital role in identity of abstract concepts.
I suspect that, below it all, people acknowledge that the basis of God lies in this kind of systemity in reality.

Scripture says that God placed the evidence of His presence in the very creation of the world around us. There are multiple dozens of examples of things in scripture, such as the "the paths of the deep", which we only found out in the last sixty or seventy years, is the Guld Stream that directs our weather patterns. But this was told to us about five thousand years ago, in scripture.
There are hundreds of other things that point out that creation did not happen as a giant explosion. Things are too detailed to have happend in that manner. Darwinism would have you believe that we came about over millions of years, but in all of the evolution theories, there is not a single link between the various animal species they use as the progression of evolution...nor is there a link that shows us as less than what we are now.
All of that aside, God reveals Himself to those who actually seek Him. I don't mean in some supernatural way, or lightening striking...but He reveals Himself within you...within the people who live life and model His word in their every day lives. It is not proveable in the manner you seek. Even in the days of Jesus, people sought to make Him prove himself, but He simply responded that "no sign will be given this corrupt generation, except the sign of Niniveh" Read the book of Jonah...its only four chapters....perhaps you'll find His answer there.

I know what you mean as that is the response I always get or they actually quote the bible or Koran or other religious text. Pointless if you dont believe in them either.
I think you are presuming something that is wrong though.
The existence of God or some other deity Has not been proved is true but IT could happen one day. If it does in my life-time then I will be the first to admit I was wrong!

It's impossible to 'Explain' God since God is that which cannot be comprehended; however, we know there's a creator because of the things around us that were not made by any earthly being.
There are very many other things in our wonderful world that Science explain; even Scientists believe in things they cannot see..lets begin with Quarks; science know its within ever molecule but haven't see it and cannot explain it. Maube scientists are also ediots...yes?

They give answers like that because they aren't intelligent enough to come up with a real one,I think if you have an I.Q. over 75 ,the Christian church won't let you join or something. SOLE;I don't believe in love and I'm perfectly happy with a loveless universe,Piper;I have seen the entire process of childbirth and if god is behind it , He is one sick f'uck,as a man I can say there is nothing either beautiful,or miraculous ,about seeing a vagina stretched to ten times its normal size.

I wasn't explaining God, but just because you can't see something does not mean it's not there. Just because you can't touch/see something does not mean it doesn't exist, likewise just because people believe there is something there eg. Loch Ness monster does not mean it's real. Let whatever makes a person happy to exist in their own minds. Just because we don't believe does not give us the right to pass on our beliefs and vice versa.

It's very good question. But if you're looking for a rational answer from believers you'll wait a long time.
People can believe what they want - fair play to them.
But belief is a matter of faith, not rationality, so a rational answer is not possible.

I believe in God cos when I didn't I started to treat people, places and things like they were my gods. I want to believe in god so I don't start worshipping something more harmful. I need to.

Well you can't see air but you need it to breathe. You gan't see GOD but we needed Him just to be. do you think when you see the process of child birth the whole start to finish that there is not some supreme being behind all this? Then all the prophets in the past and the raising the dead and the blind seeing ect.. think about it.
