My friend Mike snorts Adderall, because it hits him faster and can get to work quickly. He isn't doing more than prescribed. Is this dangerous to do?

It is dangerous in that it would damage the nasal/sinus cavities. Also, most probably your friend is NOT getting a larger dose as the pills that he is snorting are at most only 10% active drug, by weight, which means that 90% of inactive material is coating his nasal/sinus cavities. It would be a near-impossibility to recieve all 10% active material in a pill this way, which as you said, since he is not exceeding prescribed amounts, might only allow for a quicker onset of action, yet nothing that would be worth the damage to the cavities incurred. Due to this 10% active material to 90% inactive material ratio, your friend is really just cruding up his nose. He will receive a more consistent and readily absorbed amount of his prescription taking it orally as it is intended. Also, the other responses seemed to be in response to your friend hurting himself by taking too much, which you clearly stated he was not doing. It is highly probable that your friends prescribing doctor took the effects of Adderall (amphetamines, as you probably know) on the cardiovascular system into account when prescribing them.

yes, it's dangerous. he's absorbing more of the pill this way. especially if he's taking more than prescribed, he could overdose. plus, he's damaging his sinuses.
he could have cardiovascular problems as well as other serious issues arise from this behavior.
adderall is a combination of amphetamines--a controlled substance. abuse and/or addiction could have devastating effects on his health & well being.
he should probably seek help if he is unwilling or unable to stop this.

very dangerous. Doing that has been known to cause cardiac tetany, in other words, it can stop the heart from functioning. Adderall was designed in pill form so it could be safely absorbed. Tell your friend he is playing fast and loose with his life.

OH BROTHER.............what do you think???? yes it is very dangerous to exceed the prescribed amount....of anything.
he's taking a big risk of having a stroke or heart attack. not to mention having high blood pressure with which you can also have a stroke or heart attack.... tell him to wise up.....he's taking a BIG chance. you need to print a copy of this for him so he can read it. in fact, make a copy of everyone's response so he can see the pros and cons of his behavior. or tell him to take a chance ................live on the edge and go for it
