I would listen to your mom she is older and more experienced with bad people. There must be more to the story something has happened to get your mom to not like him. I would think really hard and see if he is the right kind of guy for you.

Think about this. Do you think your mother cares about you? Have you asked her what it is about this guy that she doesn't like? Does she have reason? Are you certain that, as much as you like him, he respects you, honors you, recognizes and respects your needs and desires?
