move it to their driveway before they notice....or properly dispose of it....then suggest it may have run away if they mention it. I like the "i found it in the street" idea from "Haitian Princess" too. Or you could just tell the truth........i think id feel guilty if I didn't. And as long as you didn't mean to hurt it...they should understand.
