The Bible is the Word of God as dictated to the prophets and apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ, yet libs act as though it can be debated and argued over. Libs, the Bible is the Rule of Law in the world. Furthermore, most proscriptions included within the Bible make good common sense anyway.

So yeah, why do libs find fault with the Bible?

You may look upon the Bible as the Word of God and the Rule of Law in the world, but that doesn't mean that everyone must accept that on blind faith. First of all, it's decidedly not the rule of law throughout the world, nor should it be. Many of the stories and teachings contradict one another. This makes its message inconsistent and difficult to follow, which isn't at all surprising when you accept that the Bible is a collection of stories written over a long span of time by many different people whose motivations are not at all clear.

Common sense? Here is how biblical law handles the case of a man who suspects that his wife has been unfaithful: Numbers 5:11-30. The husband brings his wife (and an offering of barley) to the priest, who has the woman stand in front of the altar. He pours some holy water into a bowl and takes some of the dirt from the floor of the Tent of the Lord's Presence and mixes it in with the water. Then he loosens the woman's hair and puts the barley flour in her hands while he holds the bowl of bitter water that has the power to curse. The woman recites an oath attesting to her innocence. This same oath (containing a curse) is written down by the priest who washes the ink into the bowl of bitter water. The priest then takes the barley flour from the woman's hands and dedicates it to the Lord, burning a small portion on the altar. The poor woman then gets to drink the water with the ink and dirt in it. If she is guilty, the water will cause bitter pain, her genital organs will shrink away, her stomach will bloat out, and she will become forever barren.

Do you really consider that common sense? Or does it strike you more like silly superstition?

My nine-year-old could compose a better list of moral precepts than the Ten Commandments.

And to Impossible_Dream I respond: we don't respect the Constitution just because it's old or because we think it was dictated to the founders by a supernatural power. We respect it because it is rational and time-tested. More than two hundred years of experience have proven that it works. And, knowing that society changes, the founders made the supreme law of the land amendable.

Roughly 4 billion people all over the world are not Christian, so I would say that the majority of the human population finds some fault with the Bible. Even those whom you might describe as having conservative political views. I have read the Bible, so thank you for permitting me to find fault with it. I personally find fault with the Bible (as well as all holy texts) because if it is the infallible word of God, then absolutely ALL of it has to be followed and accepted as divine truth. This includes passages where adulterers are stoned to death and rapists must pay the father a bag of silver. If these CANNOT be followed and accepted as divine truth along with everything else, then the Bible is NOT the infallible word of God. Which, in turn, invalidates the book as a source of wisdom and eternal truth, allowing me to also invalidate the religion it is based upon. Nothing to do with politics. Just reason.

Why do YOU find fault with the Qur'an? To millions of people this is the word of God, unequivocally. People's opinions differ. If you cannot accept this then you are very close minded, not everyone will think the same as you - and not just liberals either. What about conservative Jews?

Besides, I don't think slavery, anti-semitism, homophobia and misogyny make much sense - yet the Bible does. Perhaps it's because the Bible is outdated to deal with modern culture in anything other than a very crude basis.

First, it is prescription not PROscription.

Second, it is never OK to generalize an entire group of people. If I was to to that I would ask why conservative evangenlical Christians leave their brains at the door when they go into church.

Three, not everyone believes in the Bible and even many who do, don't take it literally. The Bible is full on contradictions. For example, God gave Moses the 10 commandments, including "thou shalt not kill," and then turns right around and tells Joshua to kill everyone in Jericho but Rahab the prostitute and those in her house. There are two different creation stories in Genesis. Does God get confused?

Fourth, the Bible is NOT The rule of law in the world. Clearly you don't watch the news, read a news paper, or bother to know anything about cultures outside the United States.

Fifth, we find fault with people who make mindless statements and generalizations, like you do. Jesus came to take away your sins not to steal your brain.

In and of itself, there's nothing wrong with the Bible. But it's a text written by many men who lived at different times, and therefore has inconsistencies, and yes, faults. You believe it's the direct word of God. Many do not. We have that right.

It is not the rule of law in the world. It is the guide for Christians and they choose to live by it - some more steadfastly than others. That's also fine.

Just don't try to force it on the rest of us.

because of the following reasons
1) seperation of Church and State (even Jesus said let what is Ceasars be Ceasars and God's be God's)

2) duing the reformation the bible was 'updated' in Europe. it was said that this was done becuase the translations were clearer and more was found. others think that false info was written in

3) the bible condridicts itself. one minute you love thy neighbor the next you condemn them to hell- vilolating the judge not least ye be judged might I add

4) its not that libs don't follow the bible, we just follow the law. we don't let our morals and personal (private) beliefs cloud our judgement and have us make laws that harm people who don't follow our religion.

5) the bible is only the word of God if you belief in that God- so it has no purpose in politics, the law, or public (secular) places. if you want a theology move go to another countrysince most are democratic. I live in America and we value freedom-especially of religion

It contadicts itself repeatedly and pushes values contrary to what many people perceive as moral. They have problems with the whole Wrath of God thing, and they don't like that people use A BOOK to try to justify beliefs when any moron could offer another book as 'proof' that frogs are really reincarnated beagles. The Bible also contradicts what has pretty much been established as scientific fact, e.g. the age of the earth.

Two reasons I think:

1 - libs want to live their lives anyway they want with no adverse consequences. By having a religion and believing in the Bible, this says that their are definitive rules to live by, there is right and wrong, and when someone chooses to do wrong, there will be consequences.

2 - libs in general are secular humanists and/or believe in intellectualism. They think that they are above the "unwashed masses" who believe in God and religion.

Yeah, it makes gooood sense to kill everyone that believes differently than you...

II Chronicles 15:13
That whosoever would not seek the Lord God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

Or maybe celebrating the thought of killing small children makes more sense to you.

Psalms 137:8-9
O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us. Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.

There comes a time when people feel the need to stand up and oppose insanity and injustice.......welcome to the beginning of that time.

Because they do not want to live by it or accept it. They want their "own" truth- something that will please their ears. They do not want to submit to God- they are too self focused and are setting themselves higher than God which is NOT good! That is a scary place to be....
As the bible says:

2 Timothy 4:3
For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions,
